Apologies for the quietness lately but both us BROWNGIRLS have had a crazy spring so far packed full of projects, performances, exams, assignments, oh... and wedding preparations! :)Â
Weâre back on track though, bringing some awesome new updates for you guys as well as sharing what weâve been up to and what inspires us! So letâs get right into it with a come-back #MWI <3Â
1. Indian Dance production of Sleeping Beauty
You might have seen a pic like his on my Instagram (itâs actually of my cousin) but I can now reveal the story behind it! Iâm helping to stage an Indian dance production of Sleeping Beauty this summer (eek!) Itâs going to be amazing with music, lights, costume and a whole cast of brilliant dancers from the classes that I attend. Weâre trying our best to put on the best show with the limited resources we have but I will be sharing a Kickstarter page with you very, very soon so keep your eyes peeled for updates on the story! Very exciting :)
2. *Wedding Season begins!*
This weekend I got to attend a beautiful, extravagant Hindu wedding of one of my friends in the middle of the English countryside. It was a grand affair with the sangeet (pre-wedding party) themed like an âArabian Nightsâ mela and the wedding ceremony in a stunning old country estate. Hence the overload of posing and pictures. Câmon itâs gotta be done!
I was really inspired at how tasteful it all was and how the warmth and love of the family was genuinely at the heart of the celebrations. Letâs just say I was definitely taking notes... thatâs right Iâm getting married this year (in August, to be exact) and cannot wait to share wedding preparations when it all kicks-off! Let me know if youâd like to know more :)
I have had a bit of a sari weekend too as I wore two of my mumâs old sariâs at my friends wedding, so I was super-inspired after reading about the #100SariPact!Â
Basically two friends decided to start wearing the saris that were just sitting in their wardrobe gathering dust! They vowed to wear a sari twice a week so 100 times a year overall and their idea has sparked a viral trend. Theyâre gathering stories to set up a website so join the movement and submit to [email protected]!
"Every sari has a memory based on an occasion, emotion or relationship," says Kadam. "When you wear a sari, you have a sari glow, like a birthday glow."
Hope youâve had a great week so far and stay tuned for more inspiration and updates :)Â
