78. jazz samba - stan getz, charlie byrd (1962)
have i heard it before? no
faves: desafinado, samba de uma nota so, samba triste
opinion: i was mostly familiar with work stan getz did with joão and astrud gilberto. i know who charlie bird is, but first time hearing charlie bYrd. this is beautiful. it's so warm and orange and dark blue. an invite to sway and be in love.
79. franz ferdinand - franz ferdinand (2004)
have i heard it before? yes
faves: jacqueline, take me out, the dark of the matinee, michael, 40', tell her tonight
opinion: an indie staple. one that is unlike the strokes or the white stripes. it's indie disco. it's crazy good from start to finish. all killer, no filler. sound-wise i would put them in the same category as the killers, lyrics-wise arctic monkeys. there is something pulp-like abt the texts as well. it's intellectual, cheeky, sharp, charming... just a super fun album all around. what the hell did they put in take me out? always love that they have that song and they named themselves franz ferdinand. like take me out? yeah, we did. WE did.
80. pink moon - nick drake (1972)
have i heard it before? yes
faves: place to be, road, which will, parasite, from the morning,
opinion: controversial opinion (?) but i never liked his voice. beautiful, haunting, melancholic melodies and lyrics that tug at my heart but the voice... i'll tell you what though, now that i'm revisiting this album i'm liking it more than i did years ago. sometimes we need that with art. putting this on next time i go on a longer car ride. perfect for late nights too. an album that puts you in a vacuum.

it's been a minute but i'm still determined to get thru this
74. whatever people say i am, that's what i'm not - arctic monkeys (2006)
have i heard it before? yes
faves: the view from the afternoon, i bet you look good on the dancefloor, fake tales of san francisco, dancing shoes, still take you home, mardy bum, when the sun goes down, from the ritz to the rubble, a certain romance
opinion: my cousins showed me arctic monkeys when i was a teen. it was my first foray into the indie world yk. i was obsessed. i remember when AM came out, it was obviously very mainstream, very commercial, everyone suddenly knew who they were, and i ran into this one guy from my primary school who was like i remember you were into arctic monkeys before it was cool, you knew this shit and i was like uhhh yes and don't you fucking forget that. i am a music knower. i have knowledge. i always had knowledge. you all were listening to lame shit. i knew nerd, i knew mcr, i knew monkeys... get out of my face. i'm joking :) anyway, i think alex turner is like one of the greatest modern songwriters. he's cheeky, he's witty, a bit cynical, romantic but remember he will cheat. he's like a documentarian capturing northern english nightlife, everything is so vivid. i love the frantic energy on their early records. this album is like a heart attack, there's no filler, no moment wasted. deeply legendary. i will always love them. i don't think matt helders gets enough love, he's an incredible drummer.
75. led zeppelin - led zeppelin (1969)
have i heard it before? yes
faves: babe i'm gonna leave you, dazed and confused, communication breakdown, i can't quit you baby
opinion: zeppelin was a staple in this household i must say. their third album stays my favourite. this one still sounds so massive. it's like a tectonic shift. a blueprint for hard rock and heavy metal for the next fifty years. light and shade are dancing on this album, you have the acoustic delicacy sitting right next to aggressive distorted punches. robert plant's voice is like a sexy banshee. it's so great when bandmates kinda hate each other, but love money so much, we get such masterpieces.
76. paranoid - black sabbath (1970)
have i heard it before? yes
faves: war pigs, paranoid, planet caravan, iron man,
opinion: led zeppelin are more bluesy, while black sabbath are a bit darker, a bit more industrial. part of it due to tony iommi's factory accident that gave them this tone that just felt more evil. they're sludgy and dense. a lot more lyrically anxious, none of that flower power shit. heavy metal birth and all that, but my favourite black sabbath song stays planet caravan, it's such a psychedelic curveball. i remember hearing it for the first time, i was like this is black sabbath?
77. boston - boston (1975)
have i heard it before? no
faves: -
opinion: i avoided listening to them bc i kinda hate more than a feeling. i don't like this at all sorry. it's not significant to my ears.
