Probably of interest only to me, but sharing anyway just because lol. Was curious to see how my fics stacked up against each other in terms of kudos, since the order has changed a couple of times over the past few months.
The VegeBul fic was my number 1 for a looong time, and it seemed like nothing else would ever get ahead of that. A lot of other things I wrote were for more niche fandoms or pairings, and even though sometimes other fandoms would get surges (like my Trigun fic gaining a lot of ground when the new series came out), nothing else even reached 200 kudos.
Until, that is, the 10 Dance movie came out. A fandom that before then had less than 20 fics total was suddenly flooded with new fans. All of my 10 Dance fics got a boost, especially the ones that were less reliant on manga plotlines and more purely about the characters having sex lol.
And then I started writing RadioStatic, which has an even more massive fandom than any of the others; Hazbin Hotel in general has nearly 75,000, and just this pairing alone has over 10,000 fics! So within a couple months, one of those fics managed to take over the spot of top kudos gainer for me. On the one hand, since the series is so popular, there are a lot of fans seeking out fics, but on the other hand, there's sooo many that it's hard to stand out, as anything new will quickly be several pages deep within a few days. So I'm grateful that people are enjoying it amongst everything else that's out there!
I wrote my first fanfic all the way back in 1998 (gulp). I'm far from prolific, with a total of 19 works, but 4 of those are from the past year, and I'll definitely have one more within the next few months (yes, I still need to keep exploring the fascinating toxic old man yaoi that is Vox/Alastor). After all these years, I still find it enjoyable (even when I struggle with motivation), and I have no plans to stop anytime soon!
