very big fan of sam’s boundary setting in 03x06. when dean’s like “i can’t believe she got another one over on us” and sam’s like “you.” and dean’s like “what?” and sam’s like “she got another one over on you. not us.” like yes!!!! yessss!!! you were downstairs getting groped because of an idea that was not your own! that had nothing to do with you!!! don’t let him group you into that!!! very fun to see the We vs. Me get pointed out in real time. sam isn’t taking responsibility for dean’s mistakes— mistakes he didn’t even want to be a part of, nor was he present for! and of course dean yells at him for this. throws out a “thanks sam that’s very helpful” or something very similar. but it’s like! dude! you and bela were alone upstairs! that had nothing to do with sam! and i love to see sam actively individualizing himself. his boundary setting is just very good in season 3. also something very interesting to note to me is that whenever dean feels as though he’s at fault for something he’s like “aw man can’t believe we did this,” regardless of how much, if any, of a hand sam had in aforementioned this. but when dean perceives sam to be at fault for something, the whole ‘we move as a unit’ thing is nonexistent. it is very suddenly ‘you and you alone did this’ which i think is very interesting. anyway. #refreshing to see sam point it out. and early, too
