I got tagged by @vienocalledmebuddy​ uh...15 days ago, according to Tumblr. And then promptly had some issues pop up that kept me from being online 😅 Anywho!

Rules: It’s time to love yourselves! Choose your 8 (ish) favourite works you created in the past year (fics, art, edits, etc.) and link them below to reflect on the amazing things you brought into the world in 2020. Tag as many writers/artists/etc. as you want (fan or original) so we can spread the love and link each other to awesome work!

Given that I haven’t been in the TWC fandom long enough to have much of a repertoire, some of these are going to be from other things.

1. Felix and Ev hug pt. 2

I’d done another version of this a little earlier last year (in October, I think? I’d have to check), but wasn’t super happy with how it turned out. I’m a lot happier with this one. Both Felix and Evan feel like they actually have weight here, and that makes me very happy.

2. Victor sitting

I’ve always struggled with sitting poses, so I’m incredibly proud of this sketch. Vic is proportional, nothing looks weirdly short or elongated - it shows me my practice is paying off!

3. Translation 1, 2, 3, 4

I love doing little sketch comics, but by god are they exhausting. I somehow managed to do multiples of these this year, though. It is just practice for when I finally move on from the plotting stage for two of my projects, but it’s fun! And N has Secret Bastard energy and no one can convince me otherwise

4. Tu Omnia

I’ll admit, the language nerd in me might have flipped out a bit upon reading that line for the first time haha

“It’s for hand practice!” I told myself, knowing that was an absolute lie.

5. Sleeping Damon

Entering non-TWC territory, we have a piece I did for Andromeda Six. It’s a rare example of an idea consuming my brain and forcing me to follow through on it. I’m so proud of those crates, y’all.

I have been trying to get better at environments, since that’s another thing I’ve always struggled with, and I think I did pretty good here.

6. Xiao Xingchen

I’m still not convinced I painted this. I remember nothing of the process. Did I get possessed?

I could very easily find things I don’t like about this, but I honestly don’t want to. I tapped into something here, and by god I hope I can tap into it again at some point in the future.

7. Aaravos

One of my goals is to be able to draw realistic fantasy portraits at some point (I kind of want to do portrait commissions of people’s D&D/ttrpg characters when I’ve got myself sorted out), so that’s what a lot of my digital painting practice has been focusing on for a few years now. This was from fairly early in 2020, and I’m still pretty happy with it.

Thank you for tagging me! I think I genuinely needed to look back and remind myself I actually do sometimes know what I’m doing 😄
