the latest episode gave me a thought: on a scale of Jin to Spectre, of how well the kids handled the Incident, I think I want Miyu to be closer to Spectre than say Nameless-kun or Yusaku/Takeru. This would also work with the pattern of all the Incident victims having a unique outlook on the Incident from Jin’s complete shutdown to Yusaku’s revenge plot and so on and so forth.
Whilst I don’t believe Miyu flat out enjoyed the experiment like Spectre did, I think she at the very least had a more optimistic reflection on it after it concluded, unlike the others. I firmly headcanon that she draws on those six months as a source of strength and uses that as a basis for resilience. And whilst this does seem congruent with how smiley she has been known to be thus far in season three, it does come with a sort of ulterior motive from yours truly.
Spectre has a unique viewpoint in that time started for him due to the Incident which is something which was totally unprecedented for Yusaku. This, in turn, makes Spectre so obviously isolated from the others. Even from Ryoken, who also says that time stopped for him due to it. Just like Jin, just like Yusaku, just like Takeru. So, I think it would be nice if there was more of a sliding scale with someone who connects him rather than a sheer drop off. Potentially, this isolation which Spectre is aware of might be similar to how Earth bothers him, as seen in his duel with Lightning. Though, this does come with the footnote of what Spectre said during his and Playmaker’s duel: it doesn’t bother him, but it bothers me because I just want nice things for Spectre.
And maybe a friendship with Miyu could be one of those nice things. I mean, it sets up a nice mirror to Aqua/Earth and it further involves Miyu into the inner circle of characters. Instead of making her mostly Aoi’s childhood friend foremost rather than “member of the Incident” which is more or less foremost for the other victims.
