PETITION FOR ME TO MARRY E^ST PLZ AND TY
i find it soo hard to feel comfortable posting non mcr stuff to this blog but i think that is better than being totally inactive?Â
so tøp covered cancer
and as a huge fan of tøp i feel like i am biased, but i did really enjoy the song. Is it as powerful as the original? No. it is how I feel cancer would sound in a soundtrack while the original is the hero baring their broken soul for the world to see. But it’s pretty, it’s nice to listen to and it’s not as horrible as some people are making out (while I understand their discomfort with the song).
What it did do was confirm my reservations about the tribute album as a whole. These bands while in the same vein are all from different genres and will have a different take on each individual song (which is the point of a cover). For this album, I can’t see that working, something that makes this album theatrical and special is the fact that it’s a cohesive story, and cancer is such a special raw stripped down part of that story. Each different band giving their take gives me “punk goes” vibes and that idea just makes me say “yuck”.
The other thing is the ending the black parade had was so final and beautiful, the killing of the black parade in Mexico will always be the final note to me. The band’s re release acting as a “behind the scenes” does not ruin that, but attempting to recreate it does not sit right with me.
If this was a stand alone song I would be much more into it, because bands cover other bands songs all the time and it’s something that’s so cool about music, but making the idea of this tribute album all too real has put a damper on my enjoyment of this cover. The black parade is completely and utterly the most special album to me in the world and the tribute album is not really what I want for it. But that’s okay, other people will love it and that’s great, it’s just not for me..
one other thing I wanted to add is that this song doesn't feel like a cover-able one just because anyone else singing these lyrics seems wrong, i don't hear the meaning behind the song I see someone else singing mcrs lyrics, if that makes sense?
I C AN T BELIEVE FRANK IS COMING TO SOUNDWAVE I CANT BREATHE??????
