Going back to the season 2 theme of church and religion... don really missed the mark by not having chucky be sent to a catholic orphanage rather than just a regular boys homsโlike by not having him be instilled with religious trauma early on. Chucky having religious trauma would have perfectly tied in with his fear of death, fear of going to Hell, and overall choosing his own religion (voodoo) to follow rather than be forced into one (catholicism).
Plus tying in Dr. Mixter and all of that, having it be that she was part of the orphanage as a therapist there... like Don seriously missed the mark so much.
