Rio's used to receiving little if any attention to the point where she uses it to her advantage and would much prefer if people don't have any eyes on her at all (she would rather have her eyes on them). So not only Lee giving her so much attention in the world but her siblings as well is a bit overwhelming.

Just another soldier in this war, that's all. Lars' probably working him to the damn bone. He tries to make small talk with me and it's annoying, why bother if the nest day he's probably going to get sniped or whatever.

...can't help but appreciate the effort, though.

YUUUUUP you're right on the money. Rio was never a social child to begin with even after Lee picked her off the streets. She does get more vocal during tk5 and noticeably better (or worse depending on how you see it lol) about being herself around tk8! She uses her work and hobbies as an excuse to withdraw from interactions that could potentially go south and she'll have to remember that forever. The burden of having picture perfect memory...
