Being chased down the street was getting tedious nowadays.

As Millard ran, he could hear the heavy thudding of footsteps and laughter of several men.

Damn, why had things gotten so bad? He knew why. He was getting desperate. Too cocky. He’d felt protected and safe when he’d managed to pay for protection from a local gang.

Now? Not so much. His due date for payment had come too early, and the amount had increased too much. 

So here he was. Once again being chased down, probably so he could be killed.

The blond looked over his shoulder. He couldn’t see the ones chasing him. Had they given up? Did he lose them?

He was still looking when he ran straight into another individual, letting out a yelp as he fell.

“Go avay.”
