KAGAMI HATES ARGUING, especially with Kasamatsu. Both of them have too much pride and are too embarrassed to apologize or try to reconcile first. This is because their ‘arguments’ are usually over small things that neither of them want to admit they got upset over. Kagami is washing dishes from their dinner earlier, which they ate in complete silence, at 2 in the morning since he couldn’t stand to feel like he was being suffocated any longer after eating.

IT HASN'T BEEN LONG SINCE THEY HAD GONE THEIR SEPARATE WAYS. They tried to keep their relationship alive for so long. They both tried so hard but sometimes, things just didn't work out the way they wanted them to. Maybe they had fallen in love at the wrong time. It was a busy time in their lives, after all. Kasamatsu was going to college, living on his own, starting new. Kagami was going to have to start taking school more seriously as well. The miles of distance between them wasn't helping either. He had finally saved up enough money for a ticket to Kasamatsu’s new place and a ticket back. He planned to go without telling him so that he could surprise him. He had just gotten off the train when he received a call from his boyfriend. Kagami thought that maybe he'd been busted and he saw him but the conversation wasn't going the way he expected it to. Everything he heard went in one ear and went straight out the other but the words, “we should break up,” echoed in his mind for several minutes. 

HE LISTENED TO THE TYPICAL AFTER-BREAK-UP AWKWARDNESS. Kasamatsu said that they should still keep in contact and be friends and honestly Kagami felt sick to his stomach. He wasn’t prepared for this and he certainly wasn’t prepared to see his now ex-boyfriend so soon after their break up. Kagami left the station and went to go sit outside, in need of some fresh air and time to clear his mind. He felt a warm can touch his cheek and he looked up to see Kasamatsu holding out a can of coffee for him. “You’ve been crying, haven’t you?” He took the coffee into his hands and let it warm them up. Kagami hadn’t noticed when he started crying but he was now suddenly aware of how blurry his vision was and how stuffy his nose felt. “No, why would I be crying?” Kagami questioned, plastering a grin on his face. The hoarseness in his voice obviously said otherwise. 

TAIGA REALLY DIDN’T KNOW HOW YUKIO WAS BEING SO CASUAL, especially after that phone call but he was a little grateful for it. Things felt the same and he wanted so badly to embrace Kasamatsu. It has been months since they last held each other or saw each other’s faces in person. He was overwhelmed with the urge to kiss him but he knew that he no longer had the right to touch him. They sat in silence for a long time before Yukio had to leave. He claimed that he had to go do something for school and Kagami made no move to stop him, how could he? He watched his silhouette drift further and further away from him. He lowered his head because he could feel his eyes burning and the tears welling up. He wanted to stay strong and he didn’t want to shed tears because he was grateful that their relationship had a chance in the first place.

KAGAMI WAS ALWAYS ON HIS PHONE. Of course there was a reason for this. He was using every chance he had to talk to Kasamatsu. After finishing up his third year in high school and graduating, the two spent a lot of time together. This also led to Kasamatsu breaking the news that he’d be moving away for college. Kagami didn’t really know why he didn’t just go to college in Tokyo where they lived but he decided not to question him if this was what he really wanted. It was hard to say goodbye, it always is. He often recalled how bitter their parting kiss felt and how heavy his shoulders felt after he watched Kasamatsu board his train. After he left, he started using his phone a lot more. He was always texting and they made use of their free time by video calling on Skype. They spent hours together through the virtual world of communication. It was the only way for them to see each other at this point. Neither of them had the money to be going back and forth as they pleased. 

KASAMATSU WAS A LITTLE MORE AFFECTIONATE OVER TEXT. He said a lot of things through text message that he wouldn’t say in person. Probably because Kagami couldn’t see or make fun of how red his face got. He never deleted a single text message. He still had the texts from when they first started to talk, the texts from after they started going out, the texts from the night before Kasamatsu’s leave, and the texts with too many miles between them. It was hard for Kagami and it was probably even harder for Kasamatsu. He had to deal with completely new surroundings, new people, new ways of living, and their long distance relationship on top of that. Kagami was still living in his everyday routine in Tokyo. 

KAGAMI WAS A BIT SURPRISED TO HEAR YUKIO’S REQUEST. He didn’t really mind and swam up to the shore so that it would be easier to touch his tail. Kagami leaned his hands back on the sand and moved his tail to the side where the bottom of his tail still reached the water. His scales that started off as gold, slowly turned to orange, which then turned into red, that turned into an even deeper crimson towards the bottom of his tail. In the water, Kagami’s tail was vibrant and eye catching and in the sun, it seemed to shimmer beautifully. “You can touch my tail but you have to be careful since the edges of my scales are a little sharp.” In other words, he didn't want Kasamatsu to get hurt by cutting any of his fingers or his hands. 

TAIGA COULD HAVE NEVER IMAGINED THIS. A couple weeks ago, he would have never let a human near him let alone touch him. He had met a human once before and was almost captured by him. He only wanted to catch him and make money off of him and Kagami felt repulsed by the thought. When he met Kasamatsu, he was very wary around him but his presence in general felt different than the human from before. He was gentle, most of the time, and just genuinely curious rather than just seeing Kagami as a money maker. Soon, the two cautiously started to swim around together and he showed Yukio spots near the beach that nobody else had found. Sandy places that were covered by the rocks, like where they were at right now, and beautiful places to watch the ocean and the sunset. It was surprising even to Taiga, who had despised humans not too long ago, that they could be so compatible.
