This really wasn’t his sort of thing, this whole investigation thing– Jake was a lawyer, yes, but rarely did he need to go to such extreme measures to get evidence on someone. The only reason he had agreed was because it was necessary and, well, he didn’t really sleep anyways and this was a better thing to do with his time instead of slaving over papers at home or late into the night in his office.

     It was late as Jake stepped out of his sleek black Mercedes and headed towards the police station, before he’d even reached the steps he felt it, the power. The feeling was something that rarely faltered him in a confident and dominant stride, this time, there was a slight peak of cautious intrigue, something only another predator would feel. As Jake threw open the doors to the station he knew this was going to be a trial-some evening, attentive eyes found the officer behind the receptionists desk and the tall dark eyed man flashed a professional smile in greeting before he emptied his pockets into a container that the woman had sat in wait of his items. The lawyer had been through this process several times and it was not his first time to this particular police station, after signing in Jake moved around through the metal detectors before he was returned his things and greeted by the arresting officer. From the second the two shook hands the arresting officer was all talk, which often was difficult for the lawyer to obtain, a talkative police officer. All the man could go on about was how strange the suspect was, her eyes being the main point of the conversation back to the interrogation room in which Jake’s newest client sat. 

      Pausing at the door to allow the officer to finish speaking Jake simply nodded before he proceeded to enter, gaze first going to the other officer that was in the room standing near the door as if he were afraid of the slender brunette woman that sat chained to the interrogation table. The vampire huffed a breath and nodded towards the woman. “May I please have my client uncuffed and perhaps,” his gaze darted to do a once over of the woman. “Some coffee?” It was a question aimed at his client to see if there was anything else she may like, it was his first priority to get the whole story and what would help his client, there was no mistaking she was strong, some creature he had not come across in all his time as a lawyer, there was a first time for all things though.

❤ to learn about my character’s past relationships

    Jake married when he was young, he fell head over heels with Glenda, she was young and full of life and he was just starting out in his legal career, they were happy though. Her father was a humble pastor, didn’t make much but brought up Glenda on his own and Jake couldn’t have been a more suitable match for her. After getting married, they had two children, a boy and a little girl and they were the soul of Jake, he really was happy, loved them all with everything in his being. 

     Then he met Clancy, the man he became legal partners with and eventually lovers, the first time anything remotely sexual/romantic happened they both were intoxicated, celebrating some big advance in their careers. It was a fairly toxic relationship in the sense that Jake felt helpless because he was afraid of hurting Glenda and his family, Clancy didn’t really care but that made more sense when Clancy turned out to be a Vampire and was the one who changed Jake. 

      Ultimately, both his relationships ended in torment and death. Clancy is still alive as far as Jake knows. 

☢ to learn about my character’s phobias

    I guess he’s afraid of hurting people, he doesn’t like being a Vampire, hates it, in fact, he’d rather be snuffed out before he hurts anyone else, but he’s been doing alright with helping people instead of devouring them. He’s also very paranoid around other Vampires, mostly because his past interactions with them weren’t good.

"It's nothing." Molly had attempted to duck the touch, just as she'd done twice already that evening. And while before she'd been successful, she hadn't been so successful this time around. The bruise gracing her cheek is about a day old, relatively fresh and still sore. It's something she'd been getting used to, but for someone like Jake? It wouldn't likely be something he'd let pass by without notice.
