The fall air snuck through the half-stuck-down window of Matty’s beat up car. Matty tapped his fingers along to the beat coming across the static-plagued radio as he pulled the car into Nevara’s driveway. He had pretty much grown up with the little house as his home away from home - many nights stayed up in the living room with flashlights under blankets, telling scary stories. 

He didn’t bother knocking - he knew Nevara would probably be knee deep in whatever boxes her mom had dug up this time. Besides, he’d kind of reached the point where he could just wander in a long time ago. Though he tended to let people know before, just in case the baseball bat came out and made the unfortunate acquaintance of his kneecaps.

Rapping on the doorframe, Matty let himself in shouting, “Hey! Where are you?” 

He followed the response and found Nevara, sitting by a box with a bunch of things laid around her. 

And his traitorous shrew of a heart decided to do that whole baboom thing.

Matty was fairly certain that one’s pulse was not supposed to kick up when one saw their best friend. It really would have been more convenient if Nevara looked like a potato or something. Unfortunately (or, if you asked Matty’s heart which seemed to think that he was about to be eaten by a shark, fortunately) she did not look like a potato, and here they were. 

“Uh, find anything good?” Matty asked, dropping down to sit cross legged on the opposite side of the box from Nevara. He gingerly reached for the first item he could see in the box, and started carefully pulling back the tissue paper. “Or was your grandma just a hoarder with delusions of grandeur?”

BTSTU by Jai Paul - Seriously?? this song is WILD as FUCCKKKK. It’s kinda eerie and doesn’t sound like any other song I’ve ever heard before. The heavy beat and loud chorus contrasting with the super high-pitched, soft verses literally gives me chills and makes me hella hyped to play in on repeat for a week
