The news had been rough for Kai. Emily was back in town. It had been several years, five to be exact, since they had last seen each other. The break-up… the hardest probably ever went through. And ever will. But he was doing fine. He went to college, he quit the band a few months ago to focus completely on his studies and he was doing fine. At least, he told himself so. He heard the news from Sidney, that Emily was back in town after all those years. And ever since, he was pacing around town like he was a criminal. Fearing he could meet her around every corner, bump into her at the grocery store or even worse, her coming over to him. He wasn’t living at home anymore, he had his dorm on campus. And how would she find him there?
She did.
It was a rather rainy Wednesday afternoon and he was supposed to meet one of his fellow students at the local coffee shop. Right when he grabbed his coffee and turned around, she stood right in front of him. His eyes widened a little and it seemed his breath got stuck in his lungs. She was here.
“Hey!” He greeted her, rather awkwardly.
