Can you share details on your dress? I love it and the color. Also love the necklace.
I got it at a really cute random store in an outlet mall in new york with my mom and her best friend, it was adorable we all got a bunch of stuff that day. but the dress is so my favorite. it's really short though :O and it has like 3 layers and there's a white one at the end that covers my booty etc. lmao. and the straps are spaghetti tank ones, and it shows my chest nicely heh, the necklace has an evil eye bead in the middle of the eye portion! it is keeping my vibes clear

Some Greek myth things I want desperately to clear up because I have Feelings.
The Twelve are not The Twelve
If you sit down and count all the gods who ever been considered a part of the major twelve for the pantheon, you actually end up with fourteen: Hera, Zeus, Poseidon, Demeter, Hestia, Hades, Aphrodite, Ares, Athena, Hermes, Apollo, Artemis, Hepheastus, and Dionysus. Even if you count out Hestia or Dionysus, since theirs is the traditionalΒ βswitching seatβ in the pantheon, youβll notice you still have an extra deity. Twelve is a lie.
Hera is not the Villain.
Letβs repeat that for the people in the back: HERA π IS π NOT π THE π VILLAIN. Stop with your one- or two-dimensional representations of women in myth and recognize the position Hera is put into time and time again. Sheβs more of a reactionary goddess than anything else: when sheΒ βlashes outβ orΒ βdoes evil shit,β 90% of the time OR MOREΒ itβs because sheβs been severely wronged and is attempting to correct that. Stop trying to make women having a reaction evil. Damn.
Zeus is not a Fuck Boy.
Letβs set our memes aside for a moment and consider the context of this character: heβs a King without a secondary governmental agency putting limitations on his powers. He performs as an unchecked force would. Moreover, he often falls in love with the women he takes from and actually, you know, supports his children. Iβm not saying heβs great or trying to gloss over the heinous shit heβs done, but I am saying Iβm tired of the exaggeration of how terrible he is, especially because--
Poseidon Is Worse.
Who causes earthquakes when he doesnβt get exactly what he wants, when he wants it? Who r*pes women on the altars of their goddesses? For that matter, who r*pes other goddesses MULTIPLE TIMES and denies relationships to the children who come out of that?
Take a wild fucking guess.
Hades is Just a Dude. Mostly.
Heβs not really good or bad, per se. Fear of him comes out of the fear of speaking the name of death--which was thought to bring death upon the speaker that must faster. There are really only two exceptions to him just kinda being a normal, not-so-bad guy.
One, he kidnapped his wife. That one turned out in his favor because he treated her pretty decently afterwards, but letβs not play games about what happened and admit to ourselves that she was kidnapped.
Two, he cheated on his wife. With a nymph named Minthe. Who his wife turned into a plant for her role in all this.
Persephone is not your Innocent Flower Child.
Youβre thinking of Kore, her pre-Queen persona who picked flowers and helped her mother. Persephone is called the Dread Queen and will rip a bitch in two. She also cheated on her husband with Adonis on the DL but apparently itβs not cool to announce that? Sheβs a strong-ass queen and she made the wholeΒ βkidnapped and tricked into staying hereβ thing work for her but like. Damn. Respect her.
Demeter was a Loving Mother.
Stop trying to make her love into something toxic, please. Her daughter was literally kidnapped and she had no idea where she had been taken to. Her brothers knew exactly where she was and never once told Demeter. What youβre seeing when Demeterβs lost Kore? Thatβs a motherβs reaction to losing her whole world, this daughter she loves and dotes on. Please stop acting like actually caring for your kids and being concerned for their safety is a bad thing, thanks.
I have more to say but Iβm tired and angry so Iβmma leave it off there and maybe hit you later with a part two. Thanks for coming to my Ancient Greek TED Talk.

Biography: (I have not written anything that isnβt academic in a long ass time!)
When Andrew arrived home, to his country of birth, to his parents and their vast estate, with his husband in tow, he was ready to start a new chapter there. For all his years in America, the thought of home, of England, was constantly in the back of his mind. He was sad to have left all of his new-found, startlingly genuine relationships behind, but he was going to be able to rekindle those heβd originally left before. It was like a take two, a second chance.
Andrew realised, rather quickly, that any relationship he had held in England, outside of the familial kind, had fizzled out. More than that, Father Time had dumped a bucket of ice cold water over them. He was a different person, in a Dominant/Dominant relationship with American-English mannerisms and, apparently, a twang in his accent (βa twang, what does that even mean?β) that separated him rather ruthlessly from the posh twats at his fatherβs country club. Thatβs not to say that the posh twats were mean about itβ they were just too indifferent. And overdone indifference, with its air of sickening patronisation, was almost worse than the glares he got. For as open as they liked to say they were, marrying a Dominant, for love, coupled with hisβ¦ twang was a step too far for them all. Andrew Barrett, married to a Dominant, whoβd have thought?
With the opening of a similar university in London, Andrew took on a similar role, starting up a writing club within the first couple of weeks. It was only natural that he fell back into writing as he once had. He started with keeping extra descriptive journals, far more so than any heβd kept beforehand, and branched out, writing bullshit, abstract poetry until his own pompous narcissism started to bore even himself. He juggled various genres, attempting science fiction, adventureβ¦ the sort of romance that teenagers would swoon over on the school playground. Romance- that was where his name stuck out, thus kick-starting his reputation as the scary English professor who wrote, perhaps ironically, sweet Young Adult fiction. The same teenagers and their siblings, friends, parents somehow, armed with his published works on the university grounds, would giggle as he passed them. The pieces he cared most about, those written under the genre that he cared most about, Gothic Romance, were acknowledged but never had the same astounding success. Eccentric, dark Andrew Barrett, a childrenβs romance authorβ¦ whoβd have thought?
An out-of-character public reputation, patronisation on every front and a couple of bitchy glares from across a packed restaurant would not stop him from enjoying his time back on English soil, though. He was able to reconnect with his parents all over again, almost forming a new relationship altogether rather than just gently patching up their old one, and he had a beautiful husband to pass in the university halls, spend his lunch break with, make heart eyes at during assemblies (make heart eyes at infinitely, really) and then go home with, go home to. He had his parents and his husband and their school, and then his son and his best friends back home. Back home. Huh. As in, across the pond. But when had America become his home? When had England become the work abroad?
When St. Brendanβs started calling them back to Seabrook, Andrew was initially shocked by how enthusiastic he was about going. He settled into his goodbyes fast. He shared heartfelt hugs with his parents, he firmly shook far too many hands, and started packing up boxes, almost prematurely. Heβd use his free periods alphabetising his books and stacking them in boxes, colour coordinating clothing and folding them into his suitcases. Heβd stay up all hours to coordinate moving at Eastern Standard Time, even if that meant he went to school the next day with eye bags to rival his actual packing, even if it meant that the essays he loved to give out were marked a day late. He was just excited to go backβ¦ which, yβknow, whoβd have thought?
