To all the people who believe property is more important than 600 hundred years of slavery and oppression of Black people. Â

Me when someone puts ice down my shirt
being a woman is just [scared of becoming my mother] [wondering if I deserve better] [wondering if im good enough] [going for long walks alone] [being plagued by imposter syndrome and self doubt] [crying] [feeling the weight of all my female ancestors suffering and pain] [making myself small and silent] [unlearning guilt and shame]ďżź [scared of marrying a man like my father] [forgiving my parents for the mistakes they never apologised for] [forgiving myself]
when bi women ask ppl not to vilify or belittle them for their attraction to men, its not bc they want to feel special or theyre 'centering men' or whatever. we are simply asking you to respect our bisexuality as a whole identitiy. we dont experience bi attraction as half attraction to women and half attraction to men, existing separately within us. our bisexuality is a full + whole attraction to all genders and we would like others to respect it as such.

But wait! Thereâs MORE!
THE MENTAL LOAD đThe mental load means always having to remember. Itâs almost completely borne by women. Itâs permanent and exhausting work. Of course, thereâs nothing genetic or innate about this behavior. But weâre borne into a society, in which we see our mothers in charge of household management, while our fathers only execute the instructions. And in which culture and media essentially portray women as mothers and wives, while men are heroes who go on fascinating adventures away from home. And while women are more and more present in the workforce, they still remain the only ones in charge of the household. When we become mothers, this double responsibility blows up in our face. Thatâs why you find fathers with children who are already a few years old, and who still donât know where to buy their clothes, what to feed them, when they need their vaccination, or even the nannyâs phone number. Starting a conversation about the mental load can help even things up between a couple, and can bring you closer together. If youâre both keeping track of household chores and sharing the work, youâll both have more time to devote to each other and less time feeling resentful or downtrodden. Š The Mental Load by Emma đ¨
Ling Yao is one of the luckiest sons a bitches in FMA, he has repeatedly been in situations that if it wasnât the right place and time he would have fucked entirely fully and completely up. to wit: been very in jail when a serial murderer just so happened to pass by and convincing him to not only let him out but also not murder him! as just one of the examples. His entire ââââplanâââ is to make an incredibly rash decision and then roll nat 20s through the entire encounter until the event is over for him and it Works pretty much every time.
It is amazing.Â
but fucking Actually thoughÂ
dude straight up arrives in a foreign country with no plan, no money, no food and no sense and when he passes out in an abandoned alley instead of being eaten by rats like any respectable member of society he instead gets literally plucked up by not one, but TWO alchemists that just so happen to be two thirds of the total number of living people that know the secret of a philosopherâs stone and Arenât in on the massive government conspiracy to murder everyoneÂ
from the second this asshole entered canon he was already bending the laws of reality to his will while face down in the dirt
Hiromu Arakawaâs genius is obvious throughout all of FMA but her first and biggest leap of genius was in how she crafted her protagonist.Â
Arakawa realized the burgeoning youth of the early 2000s wasnt interested in another plucky spry optimistic young shonen protag. Instead she gave us a short ugly egotistical asshole smarter-than-you atheist with so much money and power that people could no longer best him in arguments by telling him âdude shut up ur literally like 12âłÂ
Five pages in weâre told Edwardâs famous and rich and powerful. Five more pages and heâs calling some girl stupid for thinking God exists. Five more pages and heâs proven right. Five more and heâs kicked an evil priestâs teeth in. And no one can tell his mom on him.
Hiromu Arakawa figured out the dream of every edgy young weeb discovering internet arguments for the first time and she cast them an idol made of gold.
Itâs like the original protagonist got turned into a suit of armor, so his asshole sidekick had to fill in as the face.
Wait holy fuck

Fullmetal Alchemist was the only decent shonen ever created, and thatâs the truth.
I ranted in the tags, but you know what fuck it letâs go.
FMA is shonen. Itâs targetted primarily at young boys like most shonen is.
And it deals with heavy shit. It has gore, it has parental abandonement, it has abuse, it deals with genocide and militarization and a fuck tonne of rights abuses. But it also deals with it sensitively. Arakawa wrote a compact story with great escalation and increasing of odds.
It also has fucking complex characters. FMA is one of the few shonen series that has made sure itâs female characters are on par with itâs male characters. It wouldâve been easy to fall into the shonen trap and just sideline the female characters. But no. All the women hold their own, they do stuff. Winry is the mechanic. Lust is a great spy. Rizaâs importance is never toned down. In fact she serves as a great escalation point to show shit hitting the fan. Olivier Mira Armstrong fucking commands one of the tightest and most brutal regiments, and she will chop heads. Lan Fan goes from bodyguard to assistant revolutionary. Mei chanâs development is huge for a kid. Izumi is the badass mentor.
But itâs not just the women. Even itâs male characters are varied. Theyâre soft. They emote. Maes Hughes wonât shut up about his family and how much he loves them. Alex Armstrong is a gorgeous buff dude whoâs the second softest dude in the series. And theyâre all shown as complex people.
It also was set in a crapsack world that relied on teenagers to do shit. But you know what else it did. It made it clear that this was not what teenagers and kids should be doing. It made it clear that this was the fault of the adults, and adults should make the world safe for kids.
It had teenagers and kids who grew up, emotionally too. It showed that the emotionality was valid. It broke up pairs of itâs most codependent characters to do this. Ed and Al get a fuck tonne of development once they get separated. The same goes for Ling and Lan Fan. And you know what, even though the circumstances that separated them were shit, itâs shown that their growth away is equally important as it is together.
You know how great that is for the young boys the series is primarily targetted at? To see badass women who emote and are different? To see buff men being gentle and emotional? To realise that you have to take responsibility for your actions? To realise that yes saving the world is good and all, but it should not be your responsibility?
FMA is fucking great, and all shonen works need to get on itâs level.
