Buck pats at his nose, his fingertips painted red when he pulls it away. “I’m fine. It’ll go away in a minute.”

He dabs at it with the tissue, stepping into the kitchen area away from prying eyes. That’s weird. Buck can’t remember having a nosebleed like this before. It must just be one of those days.

Something happens as he straightens up and turns away from the trash can, losing his footing for a second. The fogginess he felt a moment ago amplifies, rattling him down to his core. Buck can no longer see what’s in front of him; his vision tunnels two seconds before the whole world turns into static.
