2023.03.03. Fixed a bug where save action was creating extra map files because multiple ini files were open because they're weren't being closed on load. Curse you past kelvin!!!

2023.02.10. Implemented mouse controls for clone and past. fixed a few bugs as they appeared. To do: - mouse clone mouse action UI and Buttons - map select/load page up/down using L stick - start map load in custom map folder - sort map files via date? - mouse control and buttons for map expand (+minimap?) - on clone, hold [Y] to pan to pos(x,y) - mouse buttton - grabber hands for mouse pan - mouse graphic changes (point, grab, ect) on all ui element - crop - exit via mouse - click out or mb_right - fill menu - exit via click out or mb_left - mouse box for clone/crop and maybe battle cursor - fix list cursor out of bounds thing - Numbers for player switch - name, owner, and other intel on pallet display
2023.01.28. started work on map editor mouse controls. I think most of the difficult parts are done :/
2023.01.25. Implemented a temporary solution for file names with illegal characters. Will replace with in game UI once some of the campaign interface gets worked out. saving and loading maps now include "Terms" data ( ini files ) may need to implement for JSON as well..

finally got to implementing paste... works fine, but spent most of the day working on a camera conflict between cursor and analogue stick scroll, resolved! will i be able to start on mouse controls tomolo? or wil i find more bugs/ features i forgot...
edit: just remembered I have to divorce key/controller inputs in windows with keyboard string inputs. make sure file name character limit is visible and explicate adjust limit to include file extension, or remove file extension. center camera after crop and expand?? terms dont work for 4 players? check this first load default terms from map from file

2023.01.15. Spend most of the day trouble shooting /prepping equipment for GGJ...seems like bad news. go most of the stuff yester days list done, except for the actual execution of past. serious - forgot to add rivers to map editor terrain menu

Getting back into habit for witting these logs. its late so imma skip a bunch of stuff and just jot dow some reminders for me.. Work on map editor continues, just got "delete map" to work through map load, but its going to need a "are you sure" prompt and exceptions for non-custom maps. might need to work our sort map at some point (meta data file?) most functions are working through game pad controls, will need to implement mouse controls and graphics. but still a few things to work out:
count players and check for playable maps
terrain/unit switch not always working
trying to edit terms when no players are on map redirects to map select ( basic battle setup)
implement map scroll with L stick

Progress since last entry:
UI for starting local hot-seat game is done-ish, as far as I would like to take it for now. Might bring down the NEXT button in map select down so it's more consistent with the other pages, but I might want to test first. may need to add additional controls for setting turn time limits.
Overhauling map editor, starting with keyboard and gamepad controls. Terrain set, copy an fill (natural, none bridge terrain only) functions working. work on a select window next. may need to change map save from ini files to JSON strings to accommodate undo actions. map files may need an overhaul to include unit stats such as HP and default rules.
Had started work on colour select and a separate control config for map editor but both abandoned for now.
Chris is working on networking over steam, and seems to be making steady progress.
should remember at some point to collect various document ssuch as fonts permissions so wilford can keep track of 'em.
2022.05.13 Been having formal weekly team meetings since the end of march. Progress being made on all fronts, feeling very good! progress stuff will probably be kept i meeting notes from now on, but I'll probably keep this log for my own personal use so i remember what I'm working on. Build very crude map selection menu today. Got a lot of problems, should probably load as a separate mini-map array instead of loading the full map as I am doing at the moment. lots of draw data address issues.

Set up controller inputs! the innards are set up for button config for when the time comes... I hope. ..might overhaul later so multiple buttons can do same function.
next work on quick scroll for right analogue stick. then add colour options. gonna be real tedious but important for accessibility. Start on main menu after that.

Spent some time mapping out main menu UI today. got distracted and started to look at turn start sequences from various games. realized later in the day that controller needs to be implemented before anything can be field tested.
Going to have to overhaul how the inputs are handled and get button config working before every thing else.
