When Klaus finally broke his curse, he knew that it would hurt.

He had prepared for it, for the pain of his transformation. After all the time he had waited, he knew he could handle it.

The pain of the wolf breaking free from his skin was nothing compared to the pain of keeping it trapped within his ribcage for a thousand years. It was a constant dull ache, a desperate animal slamming itself against his bones as if they were steel bars but never being able to break through. 

With the doppelgängers blood still fresh on his tongue and the full moon hanging high overhead, he felt the first bone snap. And it felt like finally cracking something open that had been sealed for a millennia. 

After a thousand years, Klaus had reached the apex.

After a thousand years, he had set something free in his blood and behind his eyes and now he was being remade into the most powerful creature to walk the earth.

After all his preparation. After all the centuries of waiting, the pain of his bones breaking wasn’t pain at all. 

But he was not prepared for the burn.

what the fuck is this.

And somehow it’s GOOD. Like genuinely good. Maybe even some of the best writing you’ve ever done. Which honestly makes it worse.

Because now I’m sitting here 11 chapters into a fic that’s supposed to be 25 chapters long thinking:

1. when the fuck did I write this

2. who wrote this

3. how am I ever supposed to emotionally reconnect to this exact level of insanity again

Like I can read the words and recognize they came from me, but mentally I feel like I found an ancient manuscript left behind by a version of myself that no longer exists.

So so so…let’s get into ONE of the ways I’d do Klonnie in s3. I picked this song because the lyrics remind me of Klaus so much. It’s as if he is speaking to Bonnie herself.

“This is your chance, revolt, resist/Open your chest, look down, reach in”

The beginning of season 3 Klaus should’ve tried to get Bonnie on his side. She tried to kill him twice and that would impress him. He just lost the witch he was having a sexual relationship with (Greta), and who better to join him than Bonnie Bennett? The witch descended from the line of Ayana—the one who created the spell to turn his family into vampires. Klaus would know Bonnie has darkness inside of her and would try to cultivate it to his needs.

Bonnie would reject him every time he does this because she is still loyal to her friends. She is also with Jeremy at the time and is very loyal to him and there is no reason for her not to be! Well, until…

Jeremy cheats on Bonnie with (the ghost) Anna. This will cause a shift in Bonnie and she’s now in a vulnerable position.

“Shedding your skin, showing your texture/Time to let everything inside show”

Bonnie ends up being in the same place as Klaus. He tries to provide some comfort, she tries to resist him but in the moment she thinks of the perfect way to say “fuck you” to Jeremy: Sleeping with the man who killed his aunt. She finally gives into temptation and revenge and sleeps with Klaus.

“You're cutting all ties now and forever/Time to let everything outside you”

She loves it, but is not ready to admit that to herself yet, so the morning after she regrets it and says that can’t happen again. But, Klaus being who he is loves that he has this over her head to tease her with. The next couple episodes will have tension and teasing from Klaus but Bonnie still doesn’t have any reason to leave her friends for Klaus, yet.

“This is your test, come forth, confess/Extend your tongue, speak out, go on”

When they find Abby in 3x12, she reveals that she abandoned Bonnie due to losing her magic by protecting Elena and wanting to live life outside of being a witch. We needed to see more of how this impacts Bonnie. Later in this episode (or the next) Klaus and Bonnie should share a moment. Bonnie and Klaus will bond over their mother issues and even their father issues. Both have a fear of abandonment, though show it differently, and this moment would show a softer side to both of them.

Also, Bonnie has been having dreams of the coffins and opening them this whole time! She should feel conflicted about it due to the softer side Klaus has shown but she would still end up working with Abby to open it due to loyalty to the gang. Even after opening it Esther should have Bonnie and Abby there to link the originals at the Mikaelson ball. Bonnie has no reason to betray the gang at all until….

Damon turns Abby.

“Shedding your skin, showing your texture/ Time to let everything Inside show/ You're cutting all ties, now and forever time to let/ Everything outside you”

This should honestly be her breaking point. This should be where she allows herself to put blame on Elena (whether justified or not because that is human) and the Salvatores. With every emotion bubbling inside of her, she goes to Klaus’ mansion and doesn’t say anything. Klaus is confused then Bonnie kisses him and they sleep together. This would be her cutting all ties with the gang but especially Elena. This would be the chance to explore the darkness in Bonnie AND (depending on what you want from Bonnie in season 4) give the gang a chance to earn her friendship back.

“Shed your casing and show your lines and shapes/Wear your insides on the outside/Show your enemy what you look like/What you look like/What you look like from the inside”

Bonnie being on Team Klaus would terrify everyone. Them becoming her enemy with The Great Evil himself that encourages the absolute darkness in her? Whether she ends the season at Klaus side or not Bonnie should not forgive them at all. The era of “I belong to myself” should start here, whether it be choosing Klaus or doing her own thing solo!
