Fleetwood Mac photographed by Neal Preston, 1982.
Here is a follow up to the first release on our blog of the lost and then found, (by StacyB) “Tusk” tapes from Village Studio D 1979. The quality is very poor due to the age of the VHS tape, but you can still get a candid glimpse into the inner workings of the making of “Tusk”, the album…r

I wonder if some of the time Lindsey looks for places to have these interactions with Stevie on stage just for an excuse to hug and kiss her and really bury himself in her neck and hair. I really can't see him doing these things to her off stage, just my opinion. But on stage he always seems to find a way.
If that were the case, they’d plan it better. Whenever we have hugs and kisses like we’ve gotten in Sara in past tours? They’ve only gotten that way because of evolution. While Lindsey has seemed keen to ‘interact’, those REALLY touchy-feely bits come later, usually, once they’re more comfortable and warmed up on tour.
I personally don’t think they’d be as natural and comfortable in their touches if they never touched off-stage. IMHO.
I think you're right, anon!
“Really, I think I was still working through my last little bits of issues with Stevie not that many years ago…You know, I was the one who had been left..” - Lindsey Buckingham when asked about What Makes You Think You’re The One in 2012.
Lindsey working through the trauma on stage, esp at the end live in May, 1980.

Q: We all know about internal band rivalries, how the lead guitarist resents the singer and vice versa, but is there also gender rivalry? A: From the day I joined Fritz in 1968, which had been five guys, when people wanted to book the band they'd say, "We want the band with the girl in it." So it had a long time to fester with Lindsey. Then we joined Fleetwood Mac, where the biggest thing was that Chris and I got a lot of the attention, just because we were the girls, and none of the boys liked that. They didn't like it then, they don't like it now. But at least with Fleetwood Mac, they had had some success, so I don't think it was quite so intense as it was for Lindsey and me. You know, I was thinking about it a couple of days ago, Lindsey is probably the man who loved me the most in my life. So when I die I will remember that: that of all the men in my life Lindsey, absolutely, bar none, was the man who loved me the most. Q: Who was the love of your life? Joe Walsh. I fell in love with Joe in kind of the same way that Lindsey fell in love with me. Joe and I only went out, off and on, for about two years. When Joe and I broke up I was very devastated for a long, long time. Q: Your relationship with another member of the Eagles is far better known. A. I dated Don Henley in 1976. Don was really my first boyfriend after Lindsey. We went out for about a year and a half. I wasn’t with Joe Walsh until the end of ’83, ’84. Joe and I broke up because of the coke. He told my friend and [backing] singer Sharon, “I’m leaving Stevie, because I’m afraid that one of us is going to die and the other one won’t be able to save the other person, because our cocaine habit has become so over the top now that neither of us can live through this, so the only way to save both of us is for me to leave.
Stevie Nicks, excerpt from Q Magazine, May 2008
This next song is a song that- I just finished telling this to the people in San Francisco last night- that I wrote in San Francisco when I went up there in 1973 to kind of cool out from L.A.. And I met somebody. And I didn't know whether or not I wanted to come back to Los Angeles, to Lindsey or not. So I had to make a decision. And, the decision obviously was to go back to Los Angeles and do this thing, but...so this song is called Destiny.

Stevie and I had compartmentalized our emotions in order to [get through Rumours], lived in denial. Same with Christine and John. None of us had the luxury of distance to get closure. You get to Tusk and there’s a real aggressive attitude in a lot of the songs from me. But “Save Me A Place” is one where, late at night, you reflect on the vulnerability underneath that. It’s about a feeling that’s been laid off to one side and maybe not been fully dealt with, sadness and a sense of loss. There’s also a sense of loss for my youth and my upbringing, memories of that, which I loved so much, and how I saw that receding away
