I love this post because the replies are like "for anyone who doesn't know what nestle did, they benefited from [insert human rights violation here]" but nestle has done SO many fucked up things you get a different topic in every comment
Nestle has:
Drained water from places suffering from drought for absolute pennies.
Made African mothers dependent on their milk formula, which they gave for free, until their milk dried up. Then they required them to purchase it, mothers could not afford it, mixed in too little to fulfill nutrient needs, and mixed it with polluted water. Children died.
Used slavery to produce their cocoa.
Pushed for water to be considered a āwantā not a āneedā and is at the forefront of arguments that water is not a human right.
Poisoned Chinese infants with melamine in their milk formula.
Demanded Ethiopia pay a debt owed to Nestle, during a FAMINE.
Price-fixed food items.
Contributed to deforestation for their cocoa farming.
The worst thing is, Nestle owns TONS of other brands, making it difficult to avoid for certain products.
NestlƩ is LITERALLY the largest food company in the world and have one of the worst track records. Pls avoid their products if you can
Flint, Michigan
They looooove draining springs and then hopping onto the next one.
They are diabolical.
They have an entire page on Wikipedia just for the problems they've caused.
It seems like they know people are trying to boycott them and are trying to avoid advertising a brand is theirs as much as they legally can get away with on the packaging.

what is the point of oscar the grouch on sesame street?
Itās okay to not like things and itās okay to be unhappy. He was created from the idea that ānon-destructive devianceā would go over well with kids.
THANK YOU!
Basically, the point of Oscar the Grouch is so that kids know itās okay to haveĀ fucking emotions and moods that arenāt all cheery. Thatās the fucking point. And thatās even more important to the kids who are living in harsh realities. Realities where their families are falling apart or theyāre not getting food every day or theyāre getting abused. Telling them itās okay to express that they are NOT HAPPY because they are HURTING is so fucking important I cannot even say it.Ā
Big Bird is nice, but goddamn, when youāre a kid whoās hungry and you just got beat by your caretaker and all you wanna do is hole up somewhere and tell everyone else to go away because you donāt even have words for how bad things feel? Big Bird is not your dude. Cheery happy, āwell, letās play a happy game!ā Big Bird aināt cutting it for you. Oscar the Grouch is your dude. Oscar the Grouch is the dude who tells you itās okay to put the lid on your garbage can and be alone and be upset.
Big Bird tries to talk you out of being upset (and maybe sometimes thatās okay). But Oscar the Grouch teaches you that, no, itās okay to be upset and you have every right to stay upset and grouchy and unhappy until youāre at a point where that can change. Oscar the Grouch teaches you that you have a right to your emotions, whatever they are.
On a more advanced level, the point of Oscar is to start teaching kids that itās okay to have boundaries, itās okay to want to just go into your trash can (home/safe place) and not be bothered, itās okay to defend those boundaries and say āgo away!ā when you want people toĀ go the fuck away and that you can still have a place on Sesame Street. That not everyone has to be shiny, happy Big Bird.Ā
Thatās the point of Oscar the Grouch.
āwhat is the point of oscar the grouchā who even made you
Also Oscar the Grouch *likes* things that no one else likes and heās completely unapologetic about it.Ā
The fact that people tell you things you like are stupid doesnāt make itās true. He loves trash. He loves it because itās trash. Thatās important too.
As is the fact that *even though everyone thinks his interests are stupid*, people donāt take his trash away and they donāt drag him out of his can.
Also he has *fantastic* body language. Boundary laden but also very emotional. And just the way he likes stuff and expresses interestā¦
ā¦Oscar the Grouch = awesome.
This is a wonderful series of texts post that needs to be shared with all of you

This website is still here and some of the asks are heartbreaking. Like āJamie wants a new pair of jeans because heās never had new clothes beforeā. Or āKayla wants a bag with her name on it for when she moves foster homes again.ā
A lot of these kids ask for brand name clothing and it sounds pretentious but having one nice new fashionable piece of clothing means a lot when all your previous clothes have come out of black trash bags from charities.
Btw, you can filter wishes based on gender, age, price, etc to help you find the perfect wish for you. This charity is LGBTQ-affirming (unlike a lot of religion-based charities that are unfortunately homophobic), so you can even look for nonbinary kids to donate to.
Also, I would really encourage people to be open to granting wishes made by older foster kids (14+) or young adults who aged out of the system and still lack family support. Theyāre so often forgotten.
If you donāt have a lot of money but still want to help give a kid a nice Christmas, there are lots of wishes that are $24 for stocking stuffers as well, or $15 for a sqishmallow!
https://www.onesimplewish.org
I just want to add that right now, there are so many pending wishes for food. Kids are asking for food from the universe (and yeah, ākidsā includes young adults just entering the work forceāeighteen and hungry is just as morally wrong as eight and hungry).
On the day of Dick Cheneyās death, Iām thinking about a lot of horrible consequences of his actions, but Iām also thinking about Lauren Hough telling Dick Cheney to waterboard her āif it makes him feel betterā when she repaired his cable.

Leverage: Redemption S03E10 The Side Job.
Bonus meme:
I just have to say, I absolutely love both Leverage shows. Eliot is my favorite.
The US is weird because it has a particularly regressive culture, yet living there has significant privileges even for the racialized people who live there. As a Latina, I am not quite safe with ICE running around... at the same time, my conditions are grossly privileged as a result of being a citizen of the imperial core. Both are fully true and I think many struggle with this.

Yes.
[tumblr] is a flat circle.
Damn, it sure is huh
We should do this more on this website.

I have been brought before the scriptures and my heresies found canonical.
I accept the judgement "unoriginal" and "should have looked it up first" but, in my inadequate defence, Tumblr's search function does fucking suck.

No...
I thought I could figure out the referent, but no. I canāt. Which murdered British boys? Someone go back and ask that elderly neighbor or Iāll never be able to sleep again.
King Edward V of England and Richard of Shrewsbury, Duke of York! They were murdered by their uncle!
She... she does
If you search "Keyhole Gardening" on StartPage or any other search engine that isn't AI-corrupted, you'll get a bumper crop of information.
The Wikipedia page is very detailed.

I actually think Portland absolutely has the right idea with showing up to protest in ways that make violence against them look not only unjustified but absolutely ridiculous. Ah yes, the people line dancing in inflatable animal costumes. Terrifying. Clearly pepper spraying the dancing frog guy was totally justified.
I think we need Gothic Lolita protestors. People in Star Trek uniforms. Slap on a pair of short shorts and a Richard Simmons wig and lead some sweating to the oldies.
It may be intentional, it may just be people have always been people- or a combination of both- but tactical frivolity is a thing that has been around since BCE.
It is 100% protest, but it's also showing the ridiculousness of the situation, and the People in Charge usually would rather face a warlord unarmed than be made fun of. And it ruins the "violent, unstable" population myth in an undeniable way.
It's also saying "you may be trying to control us, and our lives have turned to shit because of the things you are doing, but you will never take away our hope and the simple joy of being alive. Even in our darkest hour, we can dance in silly costumes and find our people and become stronger because of it."
Tactical frivolity! Thank you for the term!
