While on patrol, Mighty Mare's watch starts vibrating and flashing red. She panics and looks at her watch, knowing full well what it was trying to tell her:
"WARNING: ENERGY LOW. 1%"
This is serious. She knew if her energy levels ran out, she would revert back to her human form. Fragile and incapacitated, and unable to help defend her city.
She races down the street and notices a bright red vending machine, filled with high-calorie snacks and beverages. Time did not permit her the benefit of grace, and she ripped the machine off the floor. In her head, she promised she would pay back the vending machine owner someday.
Using what little energy she had left, Mighty Mare tilted the vending machine towards her mouth, channeling dozens of snacks, confectionery items and sweet beverages down her throat.
Each snack went straight to her stomach. At first, they overwhelmed her system and began sticking out of her belly. But soon, her supernatural digestion turned the impromptu feast into raw energy.
Refreshed and recharged, Mighty Mare stood strong - her belly bloated with power. She resumes her patrol, ready to punish those that seek to cause harm.

To help make Mighty Mare a more balanced character, I needed to find a weakness. Super strength, resilience and the ability to eat and digest nearly anything needs to have some kind of cost.
This is a starting point. Mighty Mare relies on calories and energy to maintain her form and strength. When she runs out, she reverts to her human form. If I ever create a serious comic, I hope to use this mechanic to add tension.
