it begins anew
after carefully attaching and sculpting the toes on this foot… i think i made them too big -_- mannn
i made the toes slightly thinner and gave it a bigger knee and now i’m feeling better about it :) also decided to give it the little claws they have in some poses
used my lunch break to attach the head on this guy- I think its gonna end up being taller than i want, but I’ll live with it
it continues- i decided to just dive into the hardest part and tackle the face next, lol
i still havent decided how i want to handle the eyebrows- the one facing the viewer in the official art has a little eyebrow ridge that the far one doesnt, and idk if replicating that asymmetry on a 3D sculpture will just look strange. at least it wont be too hard to add in post-baking if i leave it off for now
making the face is so intimidating
oven time again! its not as symmetrical as i would like, but probably as close as i can get. i’ll be able to sand it/add on to some areas once its baked at least.
im worried about adding the eyes, but i think it’ll be easier to get them into the right spot and shape on the face once i dont have to worry about squishing the cheeks, nose and teeth
it has gained arms, and Eyeballs! i thought the arms would be easy but i was wrong; they were surprisingly tricky. the front view looks a bit odd but im not sure how i could have avoided it, i think some beasts might just look goofy from the front- maybe i’ll experiment with widening the face a little though. now im like. What If…
wasnt planning on posting again til it was done (i feel guilty about making long reblog chains, haha) but ohhh my god the difference just building up the eyebrow makes is so surprising to me??? like OHHHH NOW its coming together!!! THERE we go!!!
the other side… i tried as hard as possible to match the first one but i dont like it as much. im hoping that once its baked i can sand and refine it to a place where im happier with it. i gotta wrap it up soon though, its tail is starting to look brown from so many trips to the oven- even though im painting over it i rather not risk it getting actually burnt
widened the back of the jaw a bit and bulked up the tail- just needs hair/spines now and it’ll be ready to paint!!!
its done!!!! which means tomorrow i can start painting it :)
additional bonus angle- the view from the front of the nose that i was struggling like hell to draw
