Clarice Lispector’s law school graduation by the University of Rio de Janeiro, 1943.
The above is a video shared by smrchildsadness on Twitter, showing a person participating in a pride parade exchanging a pride flag with a person standing on his (am using his pronoun based on the TikToks/Tweets of what happened) doorway who had a Portuguese flag. There are sounds of cheers and crying and the two people hug each other as they exchange the flags. The man at the doorway then waved kisses to the crowd within the pride parade.
The Tweet says: "NO YOU DONT UNDERSTAND HE WAS WAVING THE PORTUGUESE FLAG BECAUSE HE DIDN'T HAVE A PRIDE FLAG AND THEY TRADED FLAGS AND HE'S SO EMOTIONAL TO GET HIS OWN PRIDE FLAG I'M EMOTIONALLY RUINED"
For context, apparently they were worried that maybe he's a nationalist because he was waving the Portuguese flag and some nationalists opposing the pride march were waving that flag. But upon interacting with him, it turns out he didn't have have a pride flag and he wanted to wave *a* flag in support of the pride march. So they had an exchange and now he has his own pride flag 😭🥹.
The image above is a Tweet by kunwara_ladkaa that says "I'm crying so much right now (Image taken by Manuel Fernando Araújo/Lusa)". The image shows the same man from the pride parade crying as he hugs his new pride flag.
The above image is a Tweet by dudz_zZzz that says "ainda não parei de pensar nele," which according to Google translate from Portuguese to English is "I still haven't stopped thinking about him." The image is a drawing of the person from the pride parade, crying as he hugs his new pride flag.

One of the most joyful moments of 2024 during a Pride Parade in Portugal.
235. Deus e o Diabo na Terra do Sol (Deus e o Diabo na Terra do Sol, 1964), dir. Glauber Rocha
Amazing poster, this movie. By the way, have I shown you my cangaceiro knife?
Faca de ponta, Nordeste, Brazil, circa 1910-1940, 30.5 cm total, carbon steel blade 20.2 cm, silver and ivory handle. The ivory was probably taken from a billiards ball. Superb knife, one of my favourites.
It may not actually be a faca do cangaço i.e. cangaceiro knife (shhh), impossible to know, but it's certainly like such knives, from that time and place: a faca nordestina, typology Pasmado / Baixa Verde or thereabouts. See here.
Pasmado knife
Baixa Verde knife
Lampião's knife, with bullet hole
Maria Bonita's knife
Lampião, María Bonita, and gang: 12 men, 4 women, and a dog
Corisco / Juriti: note the insanely long knives. Other cangaceiros carried more reasonably-sized ones.

Entertainment Weekly: Lupita Nyong'o responds to racist criticism of her being cast as Helen of Troy in The Odyssey
Paste: Lupita Nyong’o forced to remind people The Odyssey is a work of fiction
Inside of you are two wolves. One of them takes Picard's trauma of being assimilated seriously and appreciates the writing and performance that went into making this storyline so memorable. The other one has stupid ideas and will take the bit too far. (You know... bc the episode where he gets assimilated is called the best of both worlds... maybe this wolf also has a tendency to overexplain jokes...)
Laerte Coutinho (born 10 June 1951), known mainly as simply Laerte, is a Brazilian cartoonist and screenwriter, known for creating comic strips such as Piratas do Tietê (Pirates of the Tietê River).
She was part of the Brazilian underground comics scene of the 1980s. She has done work for publications such as Balão, O Pasquim, and Chiclete com Banana magazines, and draws regularly for Folha de S. Paulo newspaper. Since the mid 2000s, her strips have become more "philosophical" and less humor-focused, relying less on recurring characters.
Assigned male at birth, she came out as a transgender woman when she was 57 years old. She became a founding member of the Associação Brasileira de Transgêner@s ("Brazilian Association of Transgender People").
She contributed to the Google Doodle for International Women's Day 2018 by creating a short comic about a man and a transgender woman falling in love (seen above).

I don’t think I have ever seen a dog show straight up unabashed disgust to anything.

Carpentier, Alejo. Los pasos perdidos.
Schweblin, Samantha (2020) Siete casas
Importanteeeee !!!! A leer ✍️✍️✍️
2 adiciones ajjajaj
