Ahhh of course! I forget that it’s easy to lose track of info in this fandom because it’s not well centralized and sources get easily forgotten ^_^’

So Volpina was introduced here in a sketch by one of the storyboarders, Winny. (I can’t find the tweet where she was named; this has her name, but maybe like Felix it was a fan name that took off?) She appeared before the show actually began, so it was hard to tell if she was discarded concept art or an actual character. The part of the fandom that loves the concept art (eg. they love the Quantic Kids - who are another post entirely) started drawing fanart of her and creating headcanons, but not much.

Then, she really got popular in the fandom when Thomas Astruc posted this spoiler glimpse. Long dark hair, pointy orange ears? Yep, looks like our Volpina will make an appearance. “Una ragazza italiana in Pariggi” means “An Italian girl in Paris”, and yep - “volpina” is Italian for “fox”. 

Now that she was going to appear, fans really started looking at her. An animal themed superhero, does that mean she also has a miraculous? Is she a hero or an anti-hero, as foxes are sometimes portrayed? And as a new superhero to the lucky duo, how will she alter their dynamic? Knowing that this show follows many other kids show tropes (best friend characters, queen bee character, etc.) could her appearance create a love triangle? And, being this particular show, could her civilian form create a love triangle? Some of us are also taking the opportunity of a female character to ship her with Ladybug (It’s callled ‘Volbug’), in a twist on perhaps the more expected love triangle of new female and Chat Noir.
