Out on the Street || Marcus & Leon
There wasn’t any shock or surprise in Leon’s face when Marcus flinched at him grabbing his hand. It wasn’t smart for him to do it, and that was only a natural response. “Then don’t mess with it.”
Leon shook his head when he was asked if his fellow coworkers did anything to him. Apart from the mayor saying that if the former teacher didn’t do his job, Marcus would get shot and killed publicly — there wasn’t much that was done to him.
“No, no, they didn’t fuck with me,” Leon told him, not wanting to let Marcus know what he was told. “I’m still an employee, I don’t think they could get away with much more than this.” He sniffed in, rubbing his nose. Leon quickly pulled his hand back, realizing that that was a painful no-no, as much as the dried blood irritated him.
Marcus seemed to relax at that. Knowing Leon was safe was enough to make him feel better about this situation, even just a little. But still, the image of that man's forehead blown apart pressed at the front of his brain, just behind his eyes, and he was pretty sure it was there today. Now, he was going to have to decide who lives and who dies, and that is something he never wanted to do. But for Leon....for Leon, he would kill. "I'm sorry this happened. I felt like I didn't have a choice to join him. But then I dragged you into it."
