I was rewatching “ Queen of the Damned “ (2002) a few days ago and remembered how I used to love Aaliyah’s character, the hypnotic and terrifying Akasha, the almighty vampiric goddess.
Her body movements, her deep and resounding voice, her stare, her hand gestures….Aaliyah really did personified Anne Rice’s fictional character to the roof and beyond the ancient sands of the Sahara.
Not to mention the gothic/rock soundtrack that suits perfectly the emo atmosphere the movie gives…lil’ me could never not liking it ! 🤘🏽💯
And OF COUUUUURSE I would have “ fan-girled “ the main antagonist of the movie.
I mean c’mon, a powerful empress of an ancient civilization (Egypt) coming back to reclaim her throne amongst an advanced yet hidden dominant superhuman community !?
Gurl please 💯
Unfortunately that was the last role Aaliyah would have done before she passed away (prior to the movie airing in the theaters) in a fatal airplane accident on August 25th 2001, at the age of 22.
She would never have the chance to watch her performance on the big screen.
May she Rest in Power 🕊️
Btw…Do my portrait looks a lil’ bit like Nicki Minaj or is it just me ? 🤔
