LGBT Russians in need of refuge from the country’s increasingly frightening anti-gay laws can now seek asylum in Canada. Canada’s immigration minister, Chris Alexander, said this week that claims made based on Russia’s anti-gay laws will be taken “very seriously.”
The passage of Russia’s anti-gay propaganda law just a few months before the country is to host the 2014 Winter Olympics has brought unprecedented attention to the hostility LGBT Russians face on a regular basis. Maxim Zhuravlev, a gay Russian who recently fled to Vancouver, told CBC news, “I feel that I’m protected. I feel that I can be myself. I don’t have be worried about violence.”
Zhuravlev, who has been in Canada for two months, is staying in a homeless shelter while his refugee claim is processed. “It is considered an honor for a Russian to harm or even kill a gay person. They will be honored by society and tell everyone, ‘I killed a gay person.’ Everyone basically will be proud of that.”
Let’s protect one another, friends. This is a good start.
Murphy wasn’t authorized to release the photos…
The U.S. attorney’s office called the release of the photos “completely unacceptable,” and some attorneys said the images and Murphy’s comments could be used to argue government bias against Tsarnaev.”
Boston.com sports producer Steve Silva was on the finish line at the Boston Marathon when the “bomb” went off, AND he was a witness to the first plane hitting the north tower on 9/11/2001! WHAT ARE THE CHANCES?!?!
The chances are ZERO.
There was also the guy who was at the marathon, the flew home to texas and witnessed the explosion
Lions & Lionesses,
Every man, woman, and child has rights. Regardless of the accusations, they are entitled to the same rights as any other. Just as Dzhokhar has a right to fair trial, Geroge Zimmerman does to.
One of the rights that many people aren’t familiar with is Florida’s stand your…
The stand your ground law is ridiculously flawed and shouldn’t even exist IMO

I will always reblog this.
i made it too slow but look! a gif!
The reason I shattered the image was because everyone had this preconceived notion that Dzhokhar Tsarnaev would plead guilty, regardless on what side they were on. Those on his side said he would in order to avoid the death penalty. Those against him said he would plead guilty because he’s guilty. However, that notion shattered when he clearly said “Not guilty" to all charges, surprising many.

postive article about jahar/NEW
Chechen brothers Tamerlan and Dzhokhar Tsarnaev were accused for the Boston bombings. Tamerlan Tsarnaev, 26, was the older brother of Dzhokhar, and he subsequently died in the Watertown shootout. His younger brother, Dzhokhar Tsarnaev, managed to escape. The police found Dzhokhar in a boat in Watertown, Massachusetts.
Dzhokhar Tsarnaev was charged at his hospital bed in Beth Israel Deaconess Medical Centre on Monday 22 April 2013. He is charged with two separate offences; the first charge is using and conspiring to use a weapon of mass destruction against persons and property and the second is malicious destruction of property by means of an explosive device. Federal grand jurors indicted him on 45 counts, 30 of which are federal charges under federal law (which he pleaded “not guilty" to on July 11), with the other 15 state charges.
Dzhokhar Tsarnaev was born in Kyrgyztan on 22 July 1993. His family moved to the Russian republic of Dagestan after the Chechen War broke out in 1999 and three years later they moved to US. He became an US citizen, also known as Jahar amongst his family and friends. Dzhokhar attended the Cambridge Rindge and Latin School where he received a $2,500 (£1,600) scholarship in 2011, a scholarship only awarded to 35 to 40 students. He was student at the most prestigious university, the University of Massachusetts, ranked as the 19th best university in the world in the Times of London’s 2011 World Reputation Rankings. In his first year at university he studied Marine Biology and then changed his Majors into Nursing in second year. Dzhokhar was also an all star wrestler; in high school he was a young wrestling star, a member of the Cambridge wrestling team for three years and captain for two. Sanjaya Lamichhame, a team mate, said Dzhokhar could not be involved in the attacks: “He always motivated me. He was a very nice guy. I had him on Facebook.” He continued to say that Dzhokhar was “friendly, funny, smart, above-average intelligence." Yushun Tsou, who was on the Wrestling team at the Cambridge Rindge and Latin School with Dzhokhar, posted a video of Dzhokhar practising wrestling in a basement and dancing in front of camera. Tsou called the video “the Jahar I knew.”
Dzhokhar was also a life guard at Harvard. He tweeted: “I didn’t become a lifeguard to just chill and get paid, I do it for the people, saving lives brings me joy.” Dzhokhar also volunteered to help the disabled through the Best Buddies programme. His other hobbies were playing FIFA video games and supporting FC Anzhi Makhachkala, and a twitter account has been identified as his. The account, with the name @J_tsar, has tweets including: “There are people that know the truth but stay silent & there are people that speak the truth but we don’t hear them cuz they’re the minority" and “15 billion was spent on the Olympics, imagine if that money was used to feed those in need all over the world. I’m saying." Also: “If you have the knowledge and the inspiration all that’s left is to take action.”
Some of Dzhokhar’s tweets suggests that he is romantic, as he once tweeted: “I wonder who makes her heart ache so, doesn’t matter i’ll be the one to alleviate her pain” and “if there’s one thing i love, it’s a beautiful girl with beautiful curls”. He also shared pictures of his female cat on Twitter with the caption: “Peep the fur ball she’s part of the fam".
Dzhokhar’s profile on Russian social networking site VKontakte shows “Islam" as his world view and says his life goals are “career and money". Dzhokhar is gifted with multiple talents. He had no previous criminal convictions, his criminal record is clean. There is nothing to suggest that this loving, caring, handsome and intelligent young boy would be involved in the Boston bombings.
Dzhokhar’s father Anzor Tsarnaev described his son as a “true angel”. His friends characterised him as a normal American kid. Former teacher and school photographer at Rindge, Larry Aaronson, said that he knew Dzhokhar: “If someone were to ask me what the kid was like, I would say he had a heart of gold. He was as gracious as possible.” Larry continued to say that the “last time [he] saw him [he] spoke to him in the street around Thanksgiving. [He} asked if he was still wrestling and he said he was burying himself in his studies.”
Furthermore, Pamala Rolon, a senior student at UMass Dartmouth, said the 19-year old was quite studious: “I think he’s Muslim, but not so religious,” she said. “He’s a normal city kid. He never said anything about Russia versus the United States.” She said he dressed in sweaters and jeans, fit in easily on campus and spoke good English with an American accent.
Britney Smith, 23, who said she was close to the Tsarnaev family, met and became friends with them in 2004. In an interview she said: “I believe that Jahar is innocent. I don’t believe that he did this. He was so good person.” She said she stayed with his family and that she had nothing but love, and that his mother considered her a daughter. She also shared an image on Facebook of herself wearing Dzhokhar’s grey hoody with ‘Cambridge wrestling’ written on. She wrote next to picture that she was complaining about being cold and he took off his hoody and gave it to her.
Dzhokhar Tsarnaev has thousands of supporters worldwide including his close friends and relatives. The facebook page called Dzhokhar Tsarnaev is innocent has more than 11,000 supporters. A petition called “guarantee Dzhokhar Tsarnaev the right to a fair trial” was addressed to Barack Obama has been signed by 15,330 supporters.
