Kangkan Rabha by Annie Noble for L’officiel Hommes Malaysia Magazine December 2023
my dear friend just looked up from the hat she's crocheting for a very large spherical rock we found in the river and said, in a slightly haunted tone that revealed this was the first time she was having this thought, "i should make something for my cousin's real human baby"
who needs a real human baby when you could have rock son with jaunty hat
Melt the ICE Hat Pattern
In the 1940’s, Norwegians made and wore red pointed hats with a tassel as a form of visual protest against Nazi occupation of their country. Within two years, the Nazis made these protest hats illegal and punishable by law to wear, make, or distribute. As purveyors of traditional craft, we felt it appropriate to revisit this design.
All proceeds from the sale of this pattern go to local immigrant aid organizations who will distribute the funds to those impacted by the actions of ICE.
Approximately 200 yards of RED yarn of your choice in fingering, DK, or Worsted weight.
The sample shown was knit in Blue Sky Fibers Skyland for the DK version
Suggested Needles
Fingering weight yarn: US #4 / 3.5mm
DK weight yarn: US #6 / 4mm
Worsted weight yarn: US #8 / 5mm
There is also a crochet pattern available HERE
And I looked up the claim that knitted red toques have a history as an anti-nazi symbol, and they do seem to. This articles is translated from Norwegian and from a museum, with sources. It’s focused on the phenomenon of red hats on gnomes on Christmas cards being banned, but mentions the red toque phenomenon as existing.
After red Santa hats were banned in Norway during World War II, many creative Christmas cards appeared.
Putting my money and my needles where my mouth is:

My dad’s poor hat is hanging on for dear life. He thrifted this thing 12 years ago, which means it’s probably 15 at least. For christmas I patched up a giant tear across the front and he immediately ripped it again. Less than a week later. The fabric is literally disintegrating. I repaired it once more, this time with yellow patches. I plan to keep going until the whole thing is covered, keeping an embroidered tally on the inside of how many times I’ve fixed it :) Each patch will be a different sashiko pattern, making it into a little sampler.

Chinese emperors primarily wore two types of headwear: "liú miǎn旒冕" or "miǎn guàn冕冠"(ceremonial crown with hanging beads) and "yì shàn guān翼善冠" (winged crown), with the distinctive "rabbit-ear" wings characteristic. While qinwang亲王(prince) and junwang郡王(commandery prince) were permitted to wear yìshànguān, their versions featured significantly fewer decorative elements compared to the emperor’s.
Finished the pattern for Mafic Light! It is a hat.
I am particularly taken with the gradient managed via green yarn scraps. Past-me is no stronger on good color use than present-me, but has had some moments.
After checking in each and every bin under my desk and not finding this stupid pompom, I finally checked a box on my desk and yep... there it is... well it was good I found it finally, because the pompom matches PERFECTLY with this yarn.

Baby hat!
Ok actually a toddler hat. Hat shaping is from “Patterned Cap” in Fox & Geese & Fences; A Collection of Traditional Maine Mittens by Robin Hansen. Colorwork pattern is a traditional motif that I took from Selbu Mittens by Anne Bardsgard.
I like this baby hat pattern because the ear flaps are so cute and it buttons under the baby’s chin.
I hope it actually fits the child I knit it for! He has outgrown the last hat I made him.
(See the baby really exists, I’m not just knitting hats for my llama.)

Hi, everyone! I'm back to selling my hats.
This particular batch has been in the works for a long time! However I prefer to make a whole lot of them in my free time, in order to make a large variety of them to sell.
Each hat is made by me on my loom. They are in the Irish floating style, and the patterns are pre-existing. I like to find vintage patterns through books and in archives, and breathe some new life into them.
I'm able to ship anywhere! I'm currently only available on Venmo to take payments.
DM me to ask questions or choose a hat! I'll be updating this post to let everyone know which hats are still available, and which has been bought.
I made a beanie for my aunt! Featuring my mum's hair because she agreed to model it for me
The pattern is nice but... 1) that was so time consuming for such a small thing and 2) despite coming from a well-known knitting company in my country, it was impossible to achieve what the hat was supposed to look like in the first place, I'm even surprised I managed to make it look alright
