My original concept was a hand-held fan, but I’m not sure if my skill level will be there by the second half of the semester. Here is some of my brainstorming:
Inspiration I saved to my Pinterest board:
My second phase of brainstorming has been focusing on more realistic goals. I am thinking now that a small set of accessories will be more doable and able to show off a variety of the skills the course requires.
Here is some inspiration for those accessories:
Another option I have is creating a headband inspired by this 1920s crochet headband I own. Time has destroyed the decorative elements, so I can recreate it with an original design of what the piece may have looked like 100 years ago.
Supplies roundup (left-right)
1. Ribbon and lace trim scraps
2. Fabric scraps and yardage
3. Sewing kit (lost mine and had to buy new)
4. Yarn
5. Yarn and hooks I already owned
I will be adding more elements as I gather them and posting them in this tag.

I’m very behind on my skills due to severe immobilizing illness (thyroid failure), but I want to document so I can show my progress.
I’m able to create a chain stitch with ease, but my tension is the most severe issue. Practicing my hand placement is a priority so it doesn’t create issues as I move forward to new skills. My fine motor skills are impaired due my condition, but I’ve been improving and am confident I can make it through.
Where my skills are severely behind, I’m in no drought of inspiration.
I’m being inspired by early 1900s style. Thankfully this can be translated into accessories that fit my skill level goals. I won’t be able to make a sweater by the end of semester, but accessories and small clothing pieces give me the opportunity to create something complete with the basic set of crochet skills required, but also incorporate my other skills like embroidery and design.
