Demyx let out a soft yelp as Xigbar slunk an arm around his shoulders. It wasn’t something he had been expecting. The other guy, Xemnas, was so totally not friendly. The only touch he got from him was a threatening hand on the shoulder. And that totally gave him the heebie-jeebies.
The pirate-looking guy though? He was cool! He was totally cool. He seemed like he had a sense of humor! And Xemnas definitely didn’t have one of those. If he was going to be trapped in this little cult-ish environment, Demyx needed to laugh at least!
“Whoa, everyone’s got crazy names. We’re like an ‘X’ cult, then? Guess that’s fair…” He trailed off momentarily, looking at all the unfamiliar faces that seemed to be judging him… And then back to Xigbar. If he was sticking with anybody, he was deciding it now, he was sticking with Xigbar. Maybe ‘cause he was funny, maybe ‘cause he was the first one who decided to actually be kinda nice to him. Geez, first impressions!
“Soooo, uhh… Just outta curiosity, do I got a room? Like with a bed? Or am I supposed to give up all physical possessions and sleep on the ground? ‘Cause I’d love a bed.” He paused, then turned a little to look more fully at Xigbar. “All right, Xiggy, I want you to be my tour-guide. Show me ‘round.”
“Whoa, whoa, whoa, slow down there.” Xigbar attempted to hush the new member, “I appreciate the enthusiasm, but that’s not my call to make.”
He cast a glance between Xemnas and Saïx, indicating to Demyx who would be responsible for the final decision making. When he caught Xemnas’ eye, the Superior merely nodded, although whether it was an agreement that Xigbar was best suited to show Demyx around was not clear. Xemnas could just be silently appreciating Xigbar’s acknowledgement of his authority.
“In any case,” Xigbar continued, “Any grand-tours have to wait until after group therapy adjourns.”
It was too much to ask that Demyx’ introduction was the only reason that the Organization had been called into meeting. More likely there was other business to attend to and introducing a new member just happened to be first on the agenda. “You may take your seats now.” Xemnas said, as though reading Xigbar’s mind. “Your accommodations will be discussed after, Number Nine. We have other matters to address.” “Of course we do,” Xigbar muttered, warping back to his seat, preparing himself for whatever speech Xemnas had to make on the progress of their plans or what missions needed to be completed.
Demyx fell silent when the older man decided to hush him. Damn. He so wanted to get out of here. Usually, Demyx didn’t mind being the center of attention--in fact, he loved attention. This, however, was not the kind of attention he was looking for! It was uncomfortable! Everyone was judging him and staring at him and it was giving him all kinds of discomfort.
“That sucks,” Demyx decided softly, a pout forming onto his lips. “I am so not gonna be any help in ‘addressing other matters’,” Demyx claimed, though he paused when he noticed everyone in the room warping up to those incredibly huge seats. Oh come on! He had no idea how to do that! Could he do that? Now he looked like a damn idiot just standing on the ground!
“Hey! That’s cool and all, but y’know, kinda rude. How do you do that? Can I do that? If I’m gonna be part of the squad, I wanna do that,” Demyx continued on, though he felt just awful being here alone on the ground. Yikes.
