So the idea was “Berdly but he’s a Darkner to tag along with Noelle/N03LL3” and because it’s imperative that he’s annoying and silly but also matches N03LL3, he ended up becoming a one for two deal, a mix between Rouxls and King for chapter 1 – the king of hearts! The original concept was very much just… Berdly in a heart themed costume? But you can see the start of some specific ideas here - a rules cape, a mourning dove style bleeding heart on his chest, heart shaped glasses… I wanted to keep some of his armor from his canon DarkWorld design as well – I love when characters reference themselves across universes!

Mod Angel then took these ideas and went crazy with them and with mod pony’s input that’s how we got the final design seen here in Angel’s art log!

And from there on it’s just,, me thinking about her very hard. I think they have some strange things going on with N03LL3 (wing cape gang)…

But more importantly, he’s Pyke’s papá! Pyke’s momdad even! I’m currently kind of straddling the line between “I want to make him annoying Berdly style” and “I’m just projecting in this guy full force.” The outcome is that he speaks like Rouxls and is annoying and a huuuuge coward but he’s also a genuinely sweet dad and loves to entertain his subjects with games and puzzles!

Shoutout to Pyke, I just really love Pyke.

the first to be designed was noelle! i already had ideas before this was sketched of the cyber world functioning differently in this AU, being something more along the lines of being inside of the computers rather than the internet. the reason behind putting noelle into queen's place was because mod moth is The ancient computer girl in the group and likes noelle. so. yknow. obvious connection for me there

dont remember exactly how we got to her having This design in particular but it was something along the lines of me and mod moth talking about it and deciding that she should be a malware and a "wire eating moth". IMAGO N03LL3 would be her giga queen form / second stage of her boss fight !

hearlty, king of hearts! this guy was really fun to work with. based off of mod lovebird's concept sketches where i try and help him make heartly look more like a darkner than berdly with a different costume on

we didnt know who's role we were going to swap berdly into previously, because lovebird didnt even know where he wants this guy.. and after i was N03LL3 posting and was in his dms he said this:

i then had a really funny idea of either swapping him into a king or a rouxls kaard like role. we went with a mix of both: he's technically the ruler of card kingdom but he is just. the biggest loser ever. dogshit at making puzzles while desperately trying to entertain the lightners

in the previous version of my take on him he used to have a second eye and defined beak but it made him look too much like a lightner to me still. pony suggested i delete his eye and like. worked wonders imho

and the reason as to why we went with hearts suit was because of pyke, the valet of hearts! this thing is based off of mod dove, who is associated with green in the group and i was like oh ok well in canon the green suits are diamonds and hearts, i should decide on which one to go with after this!

and then i had the idea of making card kingdom more wonderland themed than it already had the vibes of. therefore i went with hearts when we were figuring out heartly

she rides a little horsey toy because when i asked dove what their preferred way of riding is (bike/skooter/skates/etc) bro went horse. and i was like ok. well. i know what im fucking giving you.

ahh yes these..<3 these are what started it all.. very simple idea behind these: i just wanted to draw myself and my friends inserted into characters that we like to shitpost rp as ( roaring knight, ralsei and kris ). as you can see my guy was originally named krismas because i really like that nickname kris got from rudy one time but i decided to go with just a christmas to separate the smep version from the canon counterpart. can you guess what our favorite colors are.

somewhere after this pony joined in with a tenna self insert and we thought it'd be fucking awesome if we put tenna into asriel's place as the big brother and from there we were coming up with all of the various swaps that'd happen in this thing . most of them are just "Hey Wouldnt It Be Funny If X Was In Y's Role" (or for purely self indulgent reasons)

and so, as we're coming up with all the swaps i have a horrible. Horrible evil cruel idea. of putting papyrus into noelle's place. this is both for the angst and because well im a papyrus selfshipper what can you do

i have another sketch relating to papyrus i mean Papya. but ill post that .. at a later date ..

after having completed the sprites for xmas, raslei, diss and papyrus, it was time for the Annoying Nerd Character. please meet Queenie The Only Other Human In Town (i mean "Robot")

her dark world fit was pretty fun to design even if its a bit simplistic cuz its mostly just canon queen fit slapped onto this nerd kid but im obsessed with her little berdly visor

currently i have a walk turnaround finished for chrimas and some battle sprites in the plans! check out these banger concept sketches

hopefully ill be able to show these and the entire gang's battle animations soon . in the sense that i hope i finish them soon . Ough !
