baby dragons whose scales are much more shiny and iridescent in order to hide in their parents' hoards
absolutely excellent top-notch thought here, but now you've got me wondering what's trying to eat them
you misunderstand, this isn't 'I look like the ground so predators walk right past me' camouflage, this is 'I look like the savannah grass so I can pounce on unsuspecting prey' camouflage
they're hiding in the hoards to bite the hands of unsuspecting humans who sneak past mama
Perhaps the shininess also makes them more endearing to adult dragons, increasing the likelihood of adoption if something happens to mama.
maybe dragons collect hoards to camouflage their babies
I remember when I was younger, anytime I watched a movie where the characters have to kill a scary monster/alien, I always thought the act of killing it was intended to be part of the horror. Like there’s this amazing creature that we’ve never seen before, and maybe under different circumstances we could’ve coexisted with it, but it’s trying to attack you and you have to defend yourself, but by destroying it you also destroy the ability to ever understand it and that’s sad and is supposed to make you feel conflicted.
It was not until well into my adulthood that I realized most people do not have complicated feelings about movies where people have to kill a scary alien monster, nor is that necessarily meant to be part of the narrative (unless it very obviously is). They just want the scary thing to die because it’s scary. I don’t have a real conclusion to this I just started thinking about it for some reason.

i love that maned wolf pups also do the canine thing where they feet too big for their got damn they, but because they also have the long ass legs they end up looking way more normally proportioned than the adults. like this:
like those are regular wolf proportions
ocd will have me thinking i cant text "here now if you wanna head over" because i sound like blowjob mario with a walkie talkie
Digital circus' biggest problem is that it was written to be a niche show aimed at weird analytical queers with actual media literacy and it accidentally blew tf up and hit the mainstream and a bunch of people who have never had a second thought about anything got into it

i can talk about my anti-psych views on here all day but i have this fear of sharing my views with people who know me irl because the average person offline genuinely believes mental healthcare is a flawless system.
or if they have any sort of critical thinking skills, they can recognize how mental healthcare is imperfect but still believe that the systemic violence is justified because they don’t view psychiatrized people as human.
or they think any anti-psych talking points are simply the Clearly Irrational Ramblings Of An Insane Person. again, because they don’t view psychiatrized people as human.
or they believe that psychiatrized people who don’t want therapy, meds, hospitalization, etc. are walking red flags who are bound to become abusers or otherwise dangers to the community. not realizing that many people (like myself) endured years or even decades of abuse from authority figures in white coats, thinking the ongoing trauma was all going to be worth it in the end if it meant feeling better, before finally realizing that the system is not made to benefit them.
TL;DR: i worry that the average person irl is not going to hear me out if i try to talk about my trauma with them.

starlight and trixie comic
i'm breaking the author's silence to address these tags directly, because i've seen similar responses a few times. your context is part of you. you like your favorite band because you found them somehow. you speak the languages you speak because somebody else taught you. you feel the way you feel because you have memories and experiences. shaving off pieces of yourself will not reveal a truth at the center, and will only make you feel less like a person worth being. you will never shed your context or influences, anymore than you will ever become younger or undrink a glass of water. but you are free to create as much additional context as you like. build yourself outward instead of digging for yourself at the center. trying 100 new things will give you 100 more data points on what you like, don't like, think, believe, feel. it might begin to reveal an image of yourself that you can recognize, respect, and love. your life is not an object to be kept clean, it is an ongoing action that you get to control. also that's starlight glimmer not rarity.
You actually cannot skip to being good at a creative endeavour that you haven't put much practice into. You cannot trick your way out of the 'knows that your work is not what you want it to be but don't know how to improve it' stage by planning or reading or talking about it really really hard. At some point you just have to craft through it until your brain finds it's own unique way back to the 'everything I make slaps' stage and be prepared to start the cycle all over again. You just have to make that project you're excited about slightly less good than you want it to be. (Says this standing in a pool of blood and covered in blood and also coughing up a little blood)
