ccna and me
This is my second entry for May 30th, for my 24 hour Media Diary for my Digital Media Literacy course at Arizona State University.
5:00am
I woke up earlier than intended so that I can buy some bandages from Walgreens due to an injury that had sprung up the previous night. Before heading over I check the Walgreens app to ensure that they have the specific bandages and dressings that I need. I am signed into this app as a guest, so there is no info on me as an individual. I then search for Walgreens near me to check their stocks.
7:30am
I woke up early in the morning after going to Walgreens to bandage my hand lacerations. I open my browser and head to NetworkChuck Academy at https://academy.networkchuck.com/course/summer-of-ccna-2026 as I am currently making my way through NetworkChuck’s Summer of CCNA course. I am pretty behind in the course as I initially intended to join when it first launched on May 5th. But I do what I can and begin to make progress. When I first started this course the UI didn’t click for me immediately but after taking some time with the website’s interface I got the hang of it.
10:45am
I take a break from the lesson plan and going over my notes. I handle a few chores and responsibilities, and as I do I overlap my duties with an instrument that helps me along the way. I loop this instrumental so I don’t really toggle much with the YouTube app much as I often find myself listening to instrumentals for hours and I try to have my YouTube premium subscription active at all times(so no toggling with my phone to skip ads & commercials).
3:00pm
I am back studying for my CCNA exam on the NetworkChuck Academy website. We are learning about network traffic and vital configurations that are viable depending on the hardware and devices that we build our network from.
7:30pm
I am cooking dinner and I passively go over some terms for the CCNA. I do this by playing a podcast going over the terms that I will benefit from being familiar with by the time my CCNA exam rolls around. This was one of the key methods that helped me grasp the vocabulary and terminology for when I was preparing to take my Security+ exam. I haven't scheduled my CCNA exam just yet, but I began to reflect back on when I scheduled my exam for the Security+. I provided personal details and bank/ debit card information. And upon test day I presented two forms of ID and took a photo with the testing center.
Security+ validates the core skills required for a career in IT security and cybersecurity. Learn about the certification, available trainin
11:00pm
I'm usually up pretty late but tonight I call it in early. I just do my nightly routine and head to bed. As I prepared for bed I listened to some commentary on a gaming event that I missed earlier in the day. The site I use for this is free and requires no subscription, but there are ads presrnted.
Reflecting upon this activity as a whole, I learned that I am very selective with the type of data/ information that I give up to these apps and social media sites. I noticed the biggest overall theme that I used media for was in the form of layering instrumentals over my life or learning about a specific skillset of mine. I watch the occasional brainrot/ chisme video on YouTube for sanity purposes considering I work so much.
