I finally finished it...
I think I redid it like 4 times, and I still not satisfied with the end result, but to this point I'm tired,
maybe I'll redo it somewhere in the future, who knows ĀÆ\_(ć)_/ĀÆ
Anyway here you go!
"He gave up the avatar state for her!!!" And i unironically cannot name a better way to piss katara off. Imagine your buddy gives up his ability to end a war thats lasted 100 years and ravaged your homeland, all because he wants to kiss you, and you aren't even sure if you return the sentiment. All of your and the whole world's hopes are riding on him and he just doesnt give a shit. Id kick his ass so hard
Yall crack me up š
Just when you think it canāt get any more ickyā¦you see THIS

I wonder if Katara ever opened up to Aang about what happened to her mother when they got older?
I know Zutara fandom likes to clown on Aang for being so insecure in his relationship with Katara. But unfortunately Aang should be feeling insecure and it's all his fault. What man wouldn't feel insecure if he knew his female partner trusted another man with the deepest feelings in her heart? Opened up herself so intimately and with so much vulnerability to a man who wasn't you?
It's sad that Aang who is supposed to be Katara's soulmate (roll my eyes) is the guy who Katara is the least vulnerable with in the entire show. Both times Katara opened up about her mother to Aang, he shut her feelings down or invalidated them. This is the man Bryke condemned poor Katara to marry.
It's really no wonder Katara is such a sad old woman in LOK. No friends or family in sight, all alone. The least recognized of the Gaang.
TikTok - Make Your Day
Iām working on part 2 of The Last Agni Kai but I have one new fic Iāve been working on and these edits have been making me feel sooo hypeddd for it. š© Writing tests my patience. Work tests my patience. Thereās not enough time.
āYour heart burned brightest when you protected Katara. The fire of that friendshipāthat bondāthat is your strength, my prince.ā
Imma just play this on loop whenever someone says to me "I'm looking too much into it." Or that "it's not that deep." Because IT. BLOODY. DAMN. IS. We didn't make things up, we've lived it since day one of this fandom. I've been here since our LJ days, guys. Since the series came out. We're not making anything up! We've been living it!!!
OH MY GOD!?

Sokka's confidence needs to be studied ā Avatar: The Legend of Aang
I recently learned something interesting about storytelling framework that helps complete the picture for how I look at ATLA. Itās called
C-locks (pressure of time running down to the last decision)
O-bjective ( what the character needs to do tied to plot. )
S-takes (what happens if they fail)
T-ether (mindset or belief that affects every decision they make, that they tightly hold onto)
Y-earning (what they truly want deep down emotionally)
Then there is the RECKONING- where they must choose to let go of their tether to achieve their OBJECTIVE or YEARNING, or they choose to hold tighter.
If they hold on thatās a STEADFAST ARC. If they let go Thatās a TRANSFORMATIVE ARC. Usually they can either have their yearning or their objective but sometimes they can have both.
Now apply that to Aang and it makes sense why people were not fully satisfied with his ending AND Kataraās.
Aangās Main Ob. Was to END THE WAR/RESTORE BALANCE TO THE WORLD
Yearn. Was keep his new found family, especially Katara. To not be alone again. (My poor bb)
Tether- Pacifist. If he remains true to who he is everything will eventually work out without having to change himself to do so.
When he meets the guru he is facing his Reckoning. Let go of Katara and unlock full Avatar state to save the world or hold on to Katara and risk not being able to defeat Ozai/end the war. Let go of his tether. Make a sacrifice that transforms him in one way or another. He chooses to keep her but doesnāt face any real sacrifices because a rock does the work for him.
If the rock wasnāt there, would he have been able to kill Ozai? Would he have died? He never truly had to face consequences, transform, sacrifice and thatās why his victory feels so hollow. Thatās why Katara feels unearned. Katara who did so much growth and change alongside Zuko( and I could get into that but this feels really long already might dk a separate post )
All that to say think of hero movies, and this is what I learned makes a story good vs memorable and talked about years later. And this is why the Agni Kai is most talked about end scene to date.
Tony Stark- Saves the world and his family but dies. Thatās his sacrifice.
Peter Parker- defeats the villain but loses Gwen. Thatās a sacrifice.
Even Pirates of the Caribbean. Will was stuck between saving his father and choosing Elizabeth. Dies, relives and ends up with both, but at a cost. They canāt completely be together.
Now think of a movie where the hero saves the day and gets the girl.. I personally think itās harder to immediately come up with.
If Aang had let go even just temporarily and Katara came back that wouldāve been beautiful. If he had been forced to kill Ozai at the cost of his values that wouldāve shown he really fought for Katara. But she became a default. (Letās not even talk about how he promised Zuko heād kill him if he ever became like his father in the comics but was struggling here for so long about Ozai)
I hope this made sense. Even winners must have lost something. Itās a kids show that touched down on heavy topics, we want to inspire hope and happiness in the end, but they canāt blame people for feeling so strongly when they messed up the recipe.
warm zutara
I watched half of the new movie on my lunch break yesterday. I just scrolled upon it, couldnāt help it. How does everybody feel about the storyline?
SPOILERS āØ
From what I gathered Aang happens to find one of the very first air-benders frozen in ice. That already seems kind of recycled and lame to me. They follow said bender into a race to find a staff against non benders that want to use it to give themself the power of air bending. I only made it halfway through and Iām not sure I really want to finish it. Iāve seen clips here and there. The OG bender turns on them and Aang almost becomes corrupted by the staff and Katara has to calm him? Correct me if Iām wrong.
Some of this material seems recycled and Iām not really sure whatās really new to add to the lore for ATLA community, besides Zukos hair. āØ
The movie revolves around Aang and thereās nothing wrong with that. Itās a limited amount of time compared to a couple seasons so I get why they canāt go as deep with interaction, but it seems almost everyone is really sidelined besides Katara when needed to interact with Aang. Besides Sokka who I feel was helping carry the movie honestly with his humor.
When it comes to the Kataang moments, I think the new character designs and art are so beautiful that theyāre overshadowing everything else. We talk about how in the og show there was so much potential but their execution was so horrible to the point we couldnāt feel it between the two. I felt like I saw a young couple that was supposed to be in love but I didnāt feel the love. There is still that disconnect from the show to the movie.
As a Zutara shipper I never hated Aang. I love to give credit where itās due. But we can not skim over the fact they erased Zukoās chest scar! DISRESPECTFUL. Any shipper/viewer has to see that. And for that I canāt get into the movie.
The best thing to come of this is the beautiful art work. I love that I now can fully imagine how everyone looks as adults. You bet your ass Iām about to be writing all over that.
I went to hear other options though, Zutara aside. Sometimes I just feel thereās a disconnect from what they keep creating contradicting itself. Supposedly itās hinted Zuko shows mutual interest towards someone at the end of the movie, so what about Mai? Are they still broken up like in the comics? See Idk šš¤§

You've seen the leaks, I've seen the leaks, we've all seen the leaks, so here's my grain of sand.
Yes, the Zutara baiting is real, as is the not-so-subtle put-down on the ship. It's June and the Ember Island Players all over again...except that, when you consider the context, it's even better (in-universe), and worse (from a meta/IRL perspective).
But that's old news, and literally everyone is talking about Bryke and bait and "The Spirits Ship It!". And while I definitely agree with most takes, I'm here to say that the whole "An old couple!/NOT A COUPLE" interaction isn't what drew my attention, but rather the fact that they're both portrayed as elderly in the first place.
Allow me to explain: I don't know the plot of the movie and I don't know if the age changes happen because a) they're in the Spirit World, or b) something made it happen.
B) means that said something had a reason for making the changes like they did, even if it's just mischief.
But A)...
A) implies that the Spirit World shows the true appearance of your soul/spirit instead of your physical age, or something of the like. Sokka's an interesting example: in the Spirit World, he's shown to be a teenager, not yet the man he's become in the physical world. He has so much learn still, so many things to do...and he's still stuck on his war years.
Now, Toph is a funny one. Which is honestly the best thing I can say about it. (I'm not yet fond of Baby Toph, in case it's not obvious. Or, well, I'm not a fan that they made it happen. Seeing twelve-year-old Toph again would've been amazing and far more in-character, IMHO.) And Aang...he's a young adult, closer to his current age than anyone else in the Gaang. Balanced.
So, if in the Spirit World physical appearance = spiritual age... Where does that leave Zuko and Katara?
Zuko, who has experienced more pain and life-changing events than most people do in their entire lives. Zuko, who had no childhood. Zuko, who was tossed into a world at war after having his innocence destroyed by his own father. Zuko, who saw the most horrid things life has to offer, and instead of succumbing to his worst instincts, he decided to bring life and honor to his people.
Zuko, who by age sixteen had the maturity and serious-mindedness of a much older man. Zuko, who has carried the weight of a nation on his shoulders since he was seventeen. Zuko, who tells horrible jokes and takes everything too seriously and whose love-language are acts of service.
Is it a wonder he's an old man, too tired to even stand on his own?
And then there's Katara. Katara, whose mother died to protect her when she was a young child. Katara, who adopted Kya's role in her family because nobody else could, because the void she left behind had to be filled. Katara, whose face overcame their mother's in Sokka's mind. Katara, who raised her brother, kept her family glued together, did chores, looked after the children, brought babies to life before she was even fourteen.
Katara, who found a legend and became a war hero. Katara, who continued to care for everyone else, mothering her friends and family. Katara, who never turns her back on people who need her, except for herself. Katara, who longed for someone to help her, support her, someone to share her burdens with. Katara, who tells horrible jokes and takes everyone's emotional burdens as her own and whose love-language are gentle words and acts of service.
Is it a wonder she's an old woman whose first instinct is to take over a baby's care?
I'm not really sure of what the thought process was when the writers made these decisions, but the fact thatāwhen looking at each character individuallyāboth Zuko and Katara can be defined as having a fundamentally old spirit... It says a lot to me, and makes them more compatible in my eyes than any "you look like a couple" moment ever could.
The argument that people ship zutara because it's a self-insert ship with Zuko is stupid like couldn't I just ship maiko then
