you start as a handful of jokers who just like to have IRC pulled up and you think "yeah this is fun". and then ten years later those same dudes are still around. I have 3,125,167 lines of IRC logs from #idletown alone, and that omits everything from 2015 til July 20th, 2017. it's literally always there and pulled up whenever I'm at my PC. I'm amazed and thrilled that we've gone on this long. sure, there's the discord, but it's mostly just an image and video storage service for the sole purpose of linking to IRC. no, bonerjamz was born on IRC, and IRC is where its soul will remain until its final days. "last bastion of freedom" is a corny phrase but man, I don't think I've felt freer on any other platform.
