“  yeah?  &&  what  about  them?  ”

Peter plops down, legs dangling over the ledge of the roof. Pushing the top of the pizza box up he breathes in deeply, taking in the smell of the pizza. “ — Nothing like a free large pizza eh buddy? “ Peter grins, lifting up the mask over his mouth so he could eat the slice he had chosen. “ Yeah? Me too… I do this often but it never gets old. Sitting up here just watching the sunset. It allows me to really unwind when the stress of being Spider-Man gets too much to handle. 

“ Sometimes being a hero is hard. A lot of stuff happens that I feel like I could be more in control over, “ he shrugs finishing off the first slice before grabbing another. “ I’m glad you like it up here as much as I do! If you’re still in New York tomorrow maybe we could do this again? It’s kinda even better when I have someone to share these simple moments with… don’t get them too often. “

Stu reaches over and plucks up a piece of pizza, taking a bite. It makes his head perk up and he makes a delighted hum. “This really is th’ bes’ pizza I’ve ever ‘ad.” he says, sounding very stunned, but delighted.

Then Spider Man begins talking about being a hero and Stu sort of sobers a bit. He licks his lips once before he sets his slice down. “You know.... I... I cahn imagine ‘ow easy i’ migh’ be t’ put tha’ sor’ ov pressure on yourself.” he scratches his head a little. “But.... you do so much more than you realize” he reaches over to put a hand on Spider Man’s shoulder. “I mean.. you’ve made such an impact tha’ I’ve ‘eard ov you all the way across th’ pond!” he smiles. “I always like t’ remin’ m’self when fhings aren’ great...” he pauses. “Everyfhing will be awright in th’ end, an’ if i’s not awright... i’s not th’ end.” he smiles.

“That it is,” he says easily. The lawyer couldn’t help but be slightly charmed by 2D. It might have just been how genuine he seemed, despite the fact his band must be big if he’s traveling internationally. Matt often thought those in the spotlight were egotistical jackasses or rather fake and entitled.

Matt grins and finishes off his beer. “No worries, 2D,” he says as he rises from the stool, grabbing his jacket and cane. “Play me a song sometime or something and we’ll call it even; I don’t often go to concerts of any sort.” He held out his arm a little awkwardly, but anything for the facade that Matt was a normal blind guy. “If you don’t mind…?”

2D hadn’t really had his whole career to be front and center. Sure he was the lead singer, but it was Murdoc’s band, and the man always made sure he was aware of it. It wasn’t until recently that he got out from under Murdoc’s thumb and able to be his own person. And briefly he was an asshole, his ego growing bigger than imagined. Stu still has his moments but he realized he didn’t want to be that kind of person. Be like Murdoc had been.

“ — Enjoying yourself back there? ” But the ‘ woo ‘ that comes from 2D was all the answer he needed to know that this guy was having fun. “ Don’t tell MJ I said this but… you’re a better co pilot than she is! “ He laughs, MJ usually just screamed or begged to be let go. It was still something she was getting used to so Peter supposed he couldn’t blame her too much. “ I know a great spot we can go to eat our pizza, “ swooping down to the pizza shop both are greeted by the owner. “ Ah look who came and’a  dropped by, Spider-man, pizza is already ready. TV said you were in the area. “ 

“ Ah cool, no waiting around! To get to the view we don’t have to swing, “ mask lens winking at the other. “ But you should still hang on, “ Peter attaches himself to the building climbing up the side of it until they reached the roof. “ And look at that sunset! “

Stu even feels a little confident to let go with the arm that had been under Peter’s arm so he can feel his hand cutting through the wind. Gods this was like a dream! “Fhanks!” he chirps as he just lets himself live in the moment. When they do touch down, he wobbles a bit on his long, ungainly legs, blinking after Spider Man as he grabs the pizza. Nervously he keeps close to the hero because he liked the feeling of invisibility next to him.

It’s true that 2D felt a lot lighter than most, had it not been for the feeling of his arms and legs wrapped around Peter, he probably wouldn’t have noticed the other was there. “ — Now that you’re all strapped in we can go on with our flight! Remember to keep your hands and arms wrapped around the spider at all times, thank you! “ And with that Peter is hoisting them both up into the air, zipping through the sky from web to web.

“ — If I can haul around people bigger than me I think you’ll be fine. Just cling to me like a Koala! “ He instructs, turning his back to the other. “ Hop on! And be sure to hold tight, “ Peter nods happy that he could make this guys day by offering a ride on his back. “ Wouldn’t want you to fall, I mean it doesn’t really matter cause I’m fast with my reflexes but, still… can’t let Jonah see that. He’d have a fit! “

“ — You’re in luck! Antonio’s pizzeria just a block away always gives me free pizza. Saved the owners butt a few years back and he’s been giving me a free large pizza ever since, “ he touches a hand to his chin in thought. “ Erm, you don’t mind hopping on my back do you? Or are you afraid of heights? Swinging is the quickest way there. “

“It’s just I know how overwhelming New York can be, and I’ve lived here all my life,” Matt easily replies before taking another sip of his beer. He’s swirling the remainder of the beer in the bottle when 2D starts haltingly. Matt turns his attention back to the musician with a small tilt of his head. He tries not to feel a little charmed at the bashfulness of the question, even though Matt knew 2D was literally asking for help back to his hotel and nothing more.

Matt smiles warmly and kindly. “Sure, no problem. Wanna finish your drink? I’ve almost done with mine, if you wanted to get going now?”
