"What are you doing" say the youths. I shrug.

The youths begin to bop along ironically.

"They hate this," I think. "I am winning."

"Hang on," says a youth. "What is that."

I realise something is going wrong but not what to do about it. "It's Italian," I mutter

"Are you Italian?"

"No, I just speak it."

"Oh shit. This goes hard actually," says a youth, whose bopping along no longer appears to be ironic "Is that rap? There's Italian rap? Whoa. Took me a second"

"What's it about?" says another youth.

My inner Public Transport Etiquette Absolutist and my inner Italian Music Evangelist are now at war. Fatally poised to decide the balance is the fact that I am a middle aged woman who has just had her musical tastes flattered by Youths.

"It's called Arresto Cardiaco, which obviously means cardiac arrest, and it's about a panic attack," I say. They lean over to peer at my phone.

"He must have some bad panic attacks," says the first youth thoughtfully.

"Maybe he gets them all the time," agrees another.

Somewhere along the way, and I realise I don't know when it happened, they turned off their own music and are now bopping along to mine.

I can't bring myself to turn it off.

Other passengers stare at me with open loathing. They are right to do so.

B. They're not gonna talk to you, so any "business advice" you thought was gonna be worth more than $10mil, that's null and void, aint happening.

C. Here's the real secret of their "success"; they're all bad people. That's literally it. They're willing to lie, steal, cheat, bully, oppress, rape, etc to get what they want, and their appetites are never sated, so they never stop lying, cheating, etc. You don't get that kind of money through hard honest work. If you're willing to be a big enough piece of shit, you could easily be one of these guys.

We finally made her tall. She's now, proportionally, about the same build as I am irl. And she's very long. Almost lanky. Long-time followers will know I used to have a TON of height dysphoria. It was one of the things I hated most about my body, I always felt like I looked like a weird, disproportionate freak. But as the years went by and my body filled out from the hormone therapy and better eating habits, I slowly became more okay with it. Finally, I started dressing in a way that suited me, with pants that emphasized the length of my legs, and then my height dysphoria disappeared entirely.

We also made the tank top more or less the "default" outfit, exposing the arms more often, something I also used to dislike.

And yes, we made her more tan. My relationship with my ethnicity has been a very confused one, with me being Iranian on my dad's side and white on my mom's, but never having really been introduced to Iranian culture at all in my upbringing. It's often left me feeling lost, which has only recently started abating as I got to know some other locals with Iranian heritage. Still, that heritage informs a lot of how I look, and that was never really properly reflected in Demily beyond the hair texture and eyebrows.

So, Demily now sports the skintone I get in the summer months, with olive skin, and by contrast, the old model seems blindingly pale to me now. Between that and the height it seems obvious several decisions in the original design were guided by white beauty standards that I just don't subscribe to anymore.

So some fanartist drew a “sexy” (read: booby) version of a (cartoon) character who is traditionally very non-sexualised. Fans of the character got mad about it because it’s kind of groundbreaking how that character is written and portrayed and this art totally ignores the entire point of the character. They demanded the art be deleted. In response to that other people said, well what the fanartist did may be distateful but they have every right to draw what they’re into. The two sides fight for days and each starts a harassment campaign and even report their “opponents’” accounts.

So far so typical. But things eventually come to a head and they decide that this will be settled by votes - not through a poll. Through donations to a children’s education charity via each side’s portal. Whoever can get the highest amount of donation wins.
