will putting down mike’s number as one of his emergency contacts despite knowing that he lives halfway across the country but one day he gets into a car crash and is rushed to the hospital and so of course jon and joyce and hopper are there as soon as possible but about an hour later mike bursts through the door, huffing like he ran there. will, high on pain meds, forgetting he put mike as an emergency contact, and thoroughly confused goes, “mike? what the hell? what are you doing here???” through huffy breaths, mike says, “i asked owens to fly me—” “mike what the fuck???” and before will can get another word out mike is kneeling beside the bed, the rest of the byers also thoroughly confused. mike’s voice drops low and quiet, and he takes will’s hand into his. “will, are you okay?” and just like that they’re 12 years old again in the hawkins hospital after pulling will out of the upside down and will breaks down into tears at the déjà vu
