A little thing I've been working on :)
The room was quiet, she heard no sound even if the person at the top of the room was still speaking. All she could hear was her heart, pounding in her chest, terrified.
But, that shouldn't..she shouldn't be. This, wasn't right. The Widowmaker doesn't feel, can't feel...but, then what was that tremble in her hands, the dry tightness she felt in her throat?
Her eyes drifted over to the only other person in the room that looked, even mildly perturbed, Sombra. Her soft blue eyes, now frazzled and wide, kept flickered over to look at Widow. They needed to talk once this meeting was over.
The rest of the meeting went by in a blur, the only things Amélie could really focus on was Sombra..and that smug, almost unaffected look on a certain Irish doctor's face. Moira..however unaffected she may act, Amélie could tell that she was very uncomfortable. It wasn't something you'd really notice unless you look closer at Moira, it was that look in her eyes. What most would see as pure contentment, Amélie could see the uncertainty, the very small amount of genuine fear. And that's not something just anyone can pull out of Moira's cold, dark heart.
Finally, their holograms flickered off, allowing Amélie to leave Moira's lab, which she had been in when they were called, to find Sombra.
It didn't take much time given that Sombra had been looking for her too.
"Hey! C'mon, over here.." Sombra dragged her into a private room, allowing the door to swing closed behind them both.
"What, the hell was that!?" Amélie didn't even have time to answer the last question before Sombra asked another, each question sounding more angry and panicked than the last.
"Sombra– Somb— Olivia!" Sombra quickly ceased talking, her hands gripping onto Amélie's arms.
"Breathe..alright, now start over."
"Ok..ok...What the hell was that? Boss is just..gone!?" That, puzzled Amélie as well. There's no way Doomfist of all people is defeated just like that. He's going to come back, there's no doubt about that, it's just a matter of when.
"He isn't, dead. This is Doomfist we are talking about, Akande Ogundimu, he wouldn't let himself be defeated so easily."
"Yeah, I guess...did you see Moira? God, that smug face.." Amélie tensed at Moira's name, however she knew that Moira was faking that expression. If she wasn't a scientist, she'd make a fantastic actress.
"She wasn't, really calm. You could see it in her eyes, if you look close enough."
"She..huh?? But, it's Moira! She doesn't act, she lays how she feels about things, and people, out for everyone to see!"
"Most of the time, yes. But there was something about this, Vendetta, that made her uncomfortable, made her feel actual fear.." And that's not something you should treat lightly. If Moira's scared of someone, then they're more than likely very dangerous.
"But that's..ughhh, God why is this happening now!? Things were going good, I was getting closer to something– and now this happens!?" Sombra let go of Amélie, instead choosing to lean her head against the wall beside them. Things, had been going good recently, haven't they? Moira's been more preoccupied with other things to worry about her experiments, allowing Amélie to have rest for once..
"God..it's just–" Sombra's head snapped up to look at Amélie, a bewildered look in her eyes as realisation washed over her. "You- you're warm! Like, actually warm!" Sombra swiftly moved back over to Amélie, standing directly in front of her, and placed her hands back on her arm. The younger woman's hands moved up, going to Amélie's shoulders, to her neck, finally landing on her cheeks, cupping her face in her, soft, hands..
"Holy shit..." were Sombra's hands always this soft? This warm?? Amélie froze up for a moment before shoving Sombra's hands back down to her sides, cheeks warm and flushed, facial expression hard to read.
