I was scared to open my mouth. I was scared I would start yelling, and if I started yelling she would be scared of me and if she was scared of me, she would be right about - Mira Jacob
I really related to this quote from "Good Talk". Although I do not have the exact same experiences, as a queer person I have heard too many times, "I don't think someone would really do that" or "You're overreacting" when I try to bring up concerns surrounding the queer community. People seem to have trouble listening to my experiences and I get frustrated and angry, but I know that if I start yelling it'll just shut down the conversation. I'm left feeling like I'm going crazy, so oftentimes I turn to art to calm myself and clear my head. I hope if I can express my feelings well enough through art, maybe people will better understand and be able to have empathy, or at least offer comfort to those in similar situations, like Mira Jacob did for me.
Project 5
Performance Art Project
For my project I decided to record myself drawing Dumbo which was my favorite when I was little. I've always loved drawing; I am not the best but I sure like to draw any cartoon character. I added some music to make it more fun to watch. I hope you enjoy.
Don't mind my sharpies running out of ink lol.

Reading Reponse 4
When I think of performance art , I always thought about dance, but performance art is alot more then that. What ever action is being done on a video is performance art. I'm not sure if I could see myself doing performance art I'm little to shy for all that. After watching these videos though anything could be performance art: you don't need your whole body and face in camera it could simply be a camera of you drawing but showing your hand. You could do the most simple action and it could be performance art. Just how Evan Miller simply screamed into a pillow
Ring The Bell
Cancer is a very big topic in my family. My grandmother and great grandmother both died from cancer. I got diagnosed with Lynch Syndrome, which makes me extremely susceptible to a dozen different cancers. Everything I do, cancer is always in the back of my mind, wondering if the next time I go to the doctors, they'll tell me I have breast cancer, or ovarian cancer, or even skin cancer. When doing this video, I knew I wanted to highlight those who beat cancer. To show that there are people out there who are so strong, that they beat their own bodies, and can live a full life.
Dawyne "The Rock" Johnson Fights
One Minute Supercut: Project 3
Dawyne Johnson is by far my favorite actor; all his movies are so fun to watch. So, I started with his first ever movie to one of his most recent ones. Every movie I did choose seemed to all have fighting scene, so I put those to use with his own rap song in the back. I feel very proud of this video I think it's fun and it shows the personality of The Rock.

Vid Info: I'd rate this like, PG-13 for some strobe and adult content. Nothing explicit or gorey though. <3 It is definitely intended to read as a scary movie! Please turn up the volume or listen with headphones. There are no loud noisesto make you jump, I promise <3 Sink into the ambiance.....it's creepy and mysterious, not horrific so relax!!
Felicia Atkinson is a French electro-acoustic composer and visual artist whom I adore. She collages ambient soundscapes, spoken word in French and English, reading poems, stories, snippets of conversations and essays...the atmospheric tension she is capable of creating renders me dazzled every time. For a poetic artist fascinated with linguistics, this woman is my soul mate.
I have always been someone to see pictures moving in my mind as I listen to music. It is very vivid for me. It's interesting because I don't dream much in my sleep....I consider myself a fervent day dreamer. Music really helps blast me off. I picked a longer song that would allow me to construct a more cinematic feel. I had so much fun making this, I think it's one of my favorite compositions in my life thus far. I filmed everything on my iphone, and edited it on my ipad and in adobe premiere. I have never used premiere before and holy COW did it open a can of worms for me.
This video ended up being extremely symbolically powerful for me. As most artists will tell you, often the idea we start out with transforms through out the creative process.... The first time I watched it through I was floored because I had just spent the last 24 hours manically edititing it in a stream of conciousness type haze, not really knowing how the story would turn out, just losing myself in matching the sounds to the visuals...So when I saw it, it was really like seeing it for the first time. The video allowed me to read into my subconcious and gain a better understanding of deeper aspects of myself. I'm always confounded by the way art communicates with us, artists and observers, through some kind of chaotic symbolic extremely personalized code. Sometimes it makes you think.....dude, it's gotta be aliens, right?

I found Cubitt, "Projection Vanishing and Becoming" very interesting. To think a projector can do so much. Who knew something that your teacher have been using since elementary class can be use for something absolutely speechless . I wouldn't have thought to tie up projector with humans, but the idea is great. There so many shadows of the human bodies, it constantly kept going. It morphed into something beautiful. We definitely give my credit to projector now after knowing you could create something amazing.
Looking at all the different video art that we have in the art industry is crazy. All of them are so different from reusing famous music videos to using a simple image. I never really learned what video art was never really seen , well I thought I never seen it but I have there's so many example of Video art. But my favorite video art out of this article while reading it was " Le Voyage Dan's la Lune, A Trip to the Moon, by George Méliés. The moon looks so really . It's cool and interesting to look at.
The Loop
Artist statement 2:
For The Loop project, I decided to explore the feeling that comes from body-scan meditation which is something that often gets taught to people diagnosed with depression, anxiety, ptsd, did, and pretty much anyone else who has trouble staying present and calm. It's used as a way to recenter and pull the mind back to reality and focus on what sensations you are feeling: what the sun feels like on your skin, the texture of the things around you, the way your clothes feel resting on your body, your breathing, etc. I definitely took inspiration for some of the close-ups from this video: https://youtu.be/nvr7T4sfads which I highly recommend, but I wanted to find rhythm and colors that were less frantic and disturbing. I used a combination of my sister's hands and clothes and my own. I used the same wash and overlay for all of the gifs in order to maintain the same feeling across, which for a couple of them I do think could have been a little brighter. But, my goal was to make something kind of dreamy but to still seem like that worried attempt to center oneself before losing it, I guess.
