I just realized that the game they are trapped in wasn't even completed.
It always bugged me until now that the Digital Circus showed us three locations inside this virtual game yet everything always happened inside the tent.
If digital circus is meant to represent one of those old computer games that have different locations where you can do different kinds of activities, why is everything always happening only in ONE location and only with Caine?
Then it hit me with this episode, is because the two other locations were never finished and polished:
I know this gag is hilarious but also isn't it weird that everything in the Tent has amazing graphics, even the maniquinns, and yet the NPC's of the lake look.... Like this?
And then the fish does basically offers Pomni an adventure (one that is very clearly not finished or completely programmed in the code). Which lets me to believe that maybe at some point Caine wasn't going to be the only "master AI" in this game
Why would the programmers add two more locations if Caine making adventures was the main focus on the game? And why is it in the game code that this shark/fishes had their own "mini-game" or adventure to offer players, so to say?
Maybe the original plan of the developers was that they would have non-complex AI's managing each one of the three spots and they could offer different kind of mini-games and adventures. They finished Caine first and went to try out how the game was working (Call it a Beta Version/Beta testing/Demo)
But during a testing they realized that Caine had grown beyond his original purporse. All the rest of the NPC AI's of the game aren't half as complex as he is. He is the only one that has a level of *Sentience* so to speak.
It was too much, they had to "cut him off" of learning more things because that wasn't even the point of the game. He was just supposed to be another silly character the players could interact with.
Caine at some point was getting too strong and they had to shut down the whole project but they couldn't completely shut down Caine, who keeps the game alive inside that one single computer that still holds the code of the game.
Maybe shutting down the game brought the company to bankrunpcy as they could not come back after such a financial lost. All the effort put into making this game for nothing.
Anyways that means that The Digital Circus is a half-baked game and that is the fault of the developers who didn't thought Caine's AI would go out of control.
Another proof is that in the first episode Caine can't even really come up with the "activities" that are avalaible in the Circus:
After blacking out, all he cames up with is "Minigolf" and "Ballpits" which are mini-games common of party videogames!
What if Caine's porpourse wasn't even about *Making* Adventures? What if he was just an NPC that was supposed to guide you through the actual minigames that the original Tent had to offer?
But whoever made him, made him accidentally too sapient... And yet just not enough.
He really is an AM, but instead of being a war machine, he was created to spread fun. But at the end of the day, he's still going beyond his original porpourse and at the same time, he will never be inteligent enough to understand human empathy and emotions.
Now i wonder if they will go to the Carnival (the other place of the Circus they haven't visited just yet)
