the shot rang out against the bare walls of the shooting range, echoing into her ears despite the earmuffs that protected her ear drums. her eyes fell lazily on the target in front of her, counting the bullet holes even though she knew exactly how many shots she’d taken. she knew every place the bullet had landed would have been fatal on a human target, but there were a few that were especially excruciating, and her focus lingered on them, imagining how the blood would flow from a body; counting the seconds it would take for them to die from the wound. these were the sort of shots that were personal, and therefore, not shots that she tended to make out in the field. but she liked knowing it was something she could do. with a tilt of her head, sonya took another moment to study her target before she straightened her head slowly.
putting on the safety, sonya was about to unload the magazine when she heard shuffling to her left. her body tensed, her back straightened and her neck snapped up, her fingers curling tighter around the weapon while her other hand pulled down the earmuffs as she turned to the sound.
“i’ve never been fond of a gun,” beth said by way of announcing her presence - even if the redhead had clued in on it already. she offered a lax smile, hands folding before her if only to ease the wielder. “they’re loud, and fast, and frightening. i do understand the need for them in the field, however.” gaze falling briefly to the clutched gun, the brunette considered her own skill in weaponry. mediocre, at best. she relied all too much on her power and her brain instead. refocusing on the fellow agent’s face, beth wondered, “did you learn to be a skilled shot before or after mkhellfire?”
