When Alden Ehrenreich visited the Los Angeles County Museum of Art with his mother as a kid, she encouraged him to play a game where theyād walk around a gallery saying which pieces they hated. āIt was a very smart trick,ā he tells me, because heād start by naming the works he, as a sullen preteen, found stupid or boring, and then, by process of elimination, arrive at the pieces he liked. āThen sheād go, āWhy do you like it?āā Ehrenreich says. Suddenly, he had to learn to express why he was into art. (x)
I love this for several reasons: as a teaching tool, as a method of analysis, and as a way to trick your son into being decent company when you want to see a new exhibit.
