grunt-r:
“I… have unfinished business…I’ll be back though. Don’t tell Guzma or Plumeria you saw me if you go back… I don’t need them coming after me.” She swings the bat a few times before putting it back over her shoulder, she seemed… prepared for something. Even worse? she was carrying that bloodied bat… what was she doing? Her head seems to lower and she focuses her gaze on the ground before looking back to Gladion. “If I don’t come back don’t look for me okay? It means that….It just means that something bad happened and I don’t need anyone looking for me.” She continues to walk (limp in her case) away from the walls, but she stops and looks back to him again, a smile on her face the moon making a beautiful shine in her eyes. “I’ll come back though, I can promise you that.”
Why was she being so shifty? Perhaps she was going to do something illegal, but then again, wasn’t that the entire point of Team Skull - doing illegal things? Why would she need to hide it, then? Argh, he was thinking too much about this, why did he care?! Rae, no matter how cool or pretty, was just another grunt. He wasn’t supposed to care where she went, he wasn’t supposed to get close to them.
Still, Gladion couldn’t shake this feeling of worry. That wasn’t like him. He prided himself on not getting attached, on never getting too close, not since Aether. Why, then, did her words move him so when she promised to him that she would return? He couldn’t shake this feeling that he needed to do something for her, help her. It was stupid, irrational, and probably gonna get him hurt, but still...
“You joined Aether to have a family, right? - that’s... that’s why I did. What’s the point in having that family if you can’t rely on them when you need help?”
