Hi! Well, first of all, this post will talk about the ship: Skeletor x Mer-Man. So, if you don’t like it, I ask you to please withdraw, we don’t want offensive comments <3.
With that in mind, let’s move on.
As you know, this ship is rare? Or very unusual in fandom. But in Revelation this version of Mer-Man appears quite injured and the voice reflects quite sadness, among other emotions.
That’s why I was looking for songs that reflect the mood of the ocean lord. Luckily! I found one that I really liked.
"Habits" but the jazz cover.
Why cover? Well, from my point of view, it expresses a sad person who suffered from loss or separation with another.
Such a person tries to cope with the moment with drugs, parties, "good times" with other people. Isn’t that what Mer-Man is trying to do? Not only did he suffer for the death of Skeletor, but he had to carry on with the charge of being a king and keep on fighting for his people. Be brave for them.
This is a small portion of what I talked to: @emperorsfoot ( I loved talking to you ♡ ).
And he suffered for his people, even perhaps the citizens themselves were against Mer-Man.
So, yeah, I think the song represents Mer-Man’s mood after Skeletor’s death and the problems of being a king.
Instead, the next song, I personally think, reflects Skeletor’s point of view.
"Villainous Thing" by Shayfer James.
I’d describe ways of manipulating Mer-Man.
As we know, they don’t just have physical differences. Therefore, the song, personally, reflects toxic parts of their relationship. Also as Skeletor manipulates Mer-Man to obey his orders.
I even think this song would be perfect for a stage where, after knowing that Skeletor is alive, the new master of the universe will sing this to Mer-Man so that he will agree to be by his side again.
But this is just my way of looking at it, you don’t need to agree. <3
Before we finish, are there any songs that remind you of this couple? I’d like to know, dear.
